BMS is playing with the MAF sensor placement within the tube to retain the high flow and power gains but without the false airflow code some non-JB4 cars turn up. I'm sure this will be resolved sooner or later so until then those not using a JB4 should just sit tight.

Mike , a couple months ago I ordered a BMS intake , ER downpipe, and Jb4

I installed the downpipe first since it arrive first with a 02 simulator. Where I had no CEL codes. A few days later i installed the BMS intake and jb4 tuner when it arrived. I noticed the cel on but the jb4 kept it off most of the time. But the car would studded and hesitate at low RPMs trying to maintain speed when I would give it load going up a hill for example.

Since the car driving badly , I took off everything and reinstalled the parts multiple times and narrowed down the symptoms and CEL only when the BMS intake is installed. I have been working in the automotive business a long time and can assure I have installed these parts per instructions. (Map sensor especially double checked).

Any suggestions. Thanks

If you need assistance I'd email BMS' technical support directly so they can sort it out.

PM me if you need the email address.

I installed my BMS intake yesterday. Ignition was off, but trunk was open (if that makes any difference). CEL showed up after about 1hr-1 1/2 hrs of driving. I've ensured the tube is snug but will check the MAF/vacuum hose again after work today. I'm 100% stock aside from this intake. JB4 going in this weekend.

EDIT: I should mention that it smelled a bit after the first drive (pushed it to make sure everything was snug).

I reseated the MAF & vacuum hose. I think if anything the vacuum hose may not have been 100% on. I noticed that the BMS bracket separated from the OEM clip. I snapped it back in last night and drove 35 min this morning - CEL is gone.

I just installed my BMS intake on 435i and CEL light came on for a bit and next day it went away after driving for some time.

It's been two days and it hasn't come back on.

I also installed the ER catless downpipe, knowing this will throw off a CEL as well, but still nothing...

Maybe i lucked out or maybe it will come on soon.

I have a 2014 335i and I installed the JB4 Stage 2 and BMS Intake. I get the CEL intermittently. When I connected my laptop to the JB4 to see the code here is what I got. CODE: 102001 - Air Mass Plausibility - Tuner Code Ignore. I deleted the code but it still comes back. I also notice that if I push the car hard and come to a stop the idle sometimes goes haywire, at one point the car almost felt like it was going to stall out but didn't. I e-mailed BT about this and the first thing they told me was that I had the wrong Firmware installed on the JB4. My car has a Electronic Waste Gate, the firmware currently installed is for the Pneumatic Waste Gate. Im thinking that can not be good, and they arent saying much except to upgrade to the correct firmware, which I will be doing this weekend. They also told me to take off the BMS Instake and go back to stock to see if that resolves the issue but that just doesnt make sense of course that would resolve the issue. I also notice that I usually get the CEL when I put the car in sport mode, when in comfort or ECO I haven't seen it light up, but will do some more testing over the next week. I hope this info sheds some more light on this, one other thing I see is that the MASS Air Sensor is not in the same spot as the stock intake tube so that mught factor in. Maybe BT should consider a possible re-design if enough people are seeing this. Once I update the firmware ill provide an update here and let you guys know what happens. Other then that the upgrades and been aewsome to say the least for the price.

CEL

Hey Guys, same exact issue here as described by frenchfries. I have a completely stock 435xi (2015) and installed the intake kit about a month ago. CEL came on after approx. 200 miles driving and it's on since then. Tried resetting the error code few times but it comes back within 10 mins.

Talked to BMS several times and tried spacing the MAF etc. I think it's just not compatible with a stock car and that's what BMS said as well after trying everything. I don't notice anything serious about the car's behavior but occasionally it's a little unstable during idling.

Do you have any other intake suggestions that won't turn on the CEL? My main concern is sound. I have the M performance exhaust as well but the sound is still not there. I think coming from an e93 M3 I have high expectations.

Thank you!

These cars don't like intakes it seems. Had an injen installed on my f30 335 and after 2 days cel came on. Code P00BD. Took off the intake and it went away. Threw that intake in the garbage and just received my bms intake a few days ago.recently installed a bms stage 1 about a month ago and cel came on today code P00BD.I officially give up on intakes for this car. Never had a problem with my audi s4 and intakes on a stock car.

I had the same problem with the cel and I checked the intake made sure everything was on correctly and I cleared the cel with a obd2 scanner. And the cel hasn't come back to haunt me so I hope it's gone for good now. The car does definitely run different with the intake. Does anybody feel that the car runs different with the intake?

I've had my AFE intake for 6 months, no CEL... but I do have MPPK.

So an update. I have driven a few hundred miles with the MAF DISCONNETED and the car runs great. No rough idles, no hesitation on the fwy, no nothing. I did a few runs and sent the logs in to BMS and my logs looked good. Again I am running a jb4 so i never did get a CEL, but the maf was throwing off the car and making it run weird. Now it runs the way it did from the factory.

These results are very odd for a MAF car which typically relies on that information from the MAF. Can you post logs here?

Turns out the car runs great with the MAF unplugged, and a little JB4 magic, allowing the car to run off the wideband AFR sensors full time like an N54.

Is removing the MAF sensor the best fix for the CEL with BMS intake if we have a jb4? Well this also work on a 2011 e90?

There are no issues with the E-Series N55 intakes.
