BMW Assist set up...what a cluster!
So I purchased my car Dec 12 and now a month later I still do not have BMW Assist properly set up. Every time I use the SOS button to speak with a BMW Assist rep I am told my car is registered to someone else so I need to have my dealer send in some activation form. I then go to my dealer and they say they have already sent the form in. To make sure they have sent this form in multiple times while in my presence. I have read of some instances of other people have activation issues too. It doesnt really bother me too much. The only need I see for this is the ability to lock/unlock my car remotely from the app and to send Google maps directions from my desktop or phone to the car. I find it more comical that this process is not more seamless.
Any others have issues activating their BMW Assist account? Last edited by tboooe; 01-12-2015 at 10:51 AM.. |

My dealer had to process the activation twice. It started working about 2 weeks after I got the car. Not sure why it's so hard to do it right the first time.

The only issue I had was that they had a TYPO in my email address twice. I had them read it back to me 3X when I called back to set up the Remote App and they finally got it right. They were very polite and everything seems to work fine now including the remote app.
Face it, any type of support center like this is staffed by entry level call center folks. Next week they could move down the street and take orders for Wonder Blenders on Home Shopping Network.

The only issue that I had was that the sales rep didn't send the required information, so I had to call back to tell them to send it in. Tried it again the following day and no issues.

Ok. 1 month later I am finally set up with BMW Assist. My favorite feature is sending addresses from my phone or pc to my car. Oh and remote lock is cool too.

Unless the dealer did something without me realising, I activated BMW Assist online and it was done within a few days. Maybe it's different in Europe?
Glad its sorted for you now though! |

I took delivery of my GC on 12/30, and about a week later I pushed the SOS button to perform the initial setup. I had zero issues with my activation.
