Automatic night mode for NAV

With my E90, I have a preset button programmed to toggle night mode on and off for the NAV (basically change to a dark background for night) since it does not seem to have the ability to switch on its own based on lighting/darkness conditions (let me know if I am incorrect in that can it automatically switch modes and of so, how do I get this to occur).

My question is does the F30 have the ability to automatically change to night mode or do you need to manually turn this mode on and off?

It does switch automatically but can be configured in the iDrive.

Do you know if this is different than in the E90 because I can never get the mode to change automatically now (looking forward to this working when my F30 comes in).

It's 100% different. The E90 didn't have this, the F30 does
