I won't drag this too off topic but I'm also looking for high performance all-season tires for mine. Just picked up my E70 in March and got one chance to drive it through some light snow on the "Fuzion" tires it came with. It was not as confidence inspiring as I would have liked. I'll probably pick up a set of DWS in October since they show my size, i've liked them in the past, and the Goodyears look like they're a little more expensive.

The other tires I've tried are Sumitomo HTR A/S P02 tires. The tread pattern resembles that of DWS with a nice-sized section dedicated to snow performance. They did perform fine in the snow, but not great in the wet (especially at speed, they always made my car feel like it would understeer) and they got very noisy as they got some mileage on them. I wouldn't recommend them to the OP.

I know everyone on here thinks I'm an idiot for saying this but I still don't see a need for snow tires, at least in my area. High Performance All-seasons will have better performance than snows for 95% of the winter season where I'm driving on cold, dry pavement. And when it does snow, they're extremely reliable and predictable in my experience. Maybe if I lived somewhere that required driving on unpaved roads often. But here that happens 2-3 times a year tops. And the DWS/similar gets it done.
It's also flat where you are which is a tremendous help. Hills in the northeast are an issue.

End of the day as long as you're not a doctor and have to get to the hospital or something just stay home. VPN is a beautiful thing.

If you want an all season that can do well in snow, get Continental DWS.
Interesting. I preferred the Michelin X-Ice 3 to the DWS I had.

That's a dedicated snow tire though. I'm talking about just all-season options.

Yes even a so-so dedicated winter tire should outperform an all season - except perhaps those new winter focused all season ie the WeatherReady

I gotcha. I've never done a two wheel combination of all-season and summer tire I liked.

I always do a summer and a snow now. My geography may be a little more mild than most too. Some years we get almost no snow and other years we have lots of little dumps. I've always found all-season to be bad when it's cold.

This time I'm putting my stock run flats up for sale or just throwing them out, putting the X Ice on my stock 400Ms, and Pilot Sport 4S on 437s as my summer.

Always curious to see what other people do though.

I have AS3+ on my LCI F31 with THP and adaptive dampers. The PSS tires that came with the car rode a tiny bit better, but IMO AS3+ is a worthy tradeoff that ensures traction in cold weather.

I got a stunning number of miles out of my PSS....neaely 35,000 miles!

My long term plan is to buy new wheels when I need new tires so that I can run PSS in spring, summer and fall. Not a huge fan of the 398 design.

Where are you? What are your winters like?

If I had stock PSSs I don’t think I’d switch, but I have the Potenza S001s

I'm in lower Alabama. We never have snow, but it does get below freezing occasionally in the winter.

PSSs turn into rocks below 40 degrees. AS3+ is great if you have to run the same tire year-round.

Ah...I'm in New England. Lots of snow and cold for 4 months straight. AS3+ is almost a no brainer down south with light winters.
