335xi 0-60?

I've got 1800mi but still have been too lazy to find a nice road or strip somewhere. Has anyone timed their 335xi, or seen anyone else that has? Just curious because the speculation has been that it's in the low 4's. Remember, Xi. Method for 335xi still to sport+, brake, and let go at 2k? Also, has anyone tried the BMW phone app that does the timing?

low 4s I doubt, I would guess 4.7 with the right launch. The M3 with 414 horsepower and less weight is 4.2...

Also the X3 35i has been tested at 5.5 which is exactly what BMW claims. Same engine, same all wheel drive, sure it weighs more (512 pounds more), but I seriously doubt the weight difference will cut off more than 1 second in 0-60 times, especially when we are in the 5 second range already. In fact its a 14% weight difference, and 14% less than 5.5 seconds is 4.7 seconds (I know you can't do the math like that, there are more factors...), normally you don't get a direct weight to performance ratio like that, 10% weight savings might cut 5% off the 0-60 times...

For what it's worth BMW claims 0-60 in 5.1 for manual and 4.8 for automatic (that's not a typo.)

i would think its in the vicinity of 4.4 - 4.5, RWD can do 4.8 easily so xi should definitely edge the launch

there is no way the new 335 xdrive is only 0.2 seconds slower 0-60 than the current M3. I am picking up my 335 xdrive soon so I wish it were true, but I would bet BMWs advertised numbers are pretty accurate, maybe 0.1 off 0.2 at the most. unless someone finds a car magazine article to prove me wrong.

i had 07 e92 335 with JB+ and i easly pulled on m3's and i fastest i ever clocked was 4.21 0 - 60.

i wouldnt rely on magazine numbers. i'd like to see what some members post here after their break ins. once you have your number hopefully you are pleasantly surprised

You can't compare a chipped car to stock though. Especially since it's not even the same engine (N54 vs N55 for the F30.)

Well I have a F30 335i and my best 0-60 was 6.2 secs! Thats way too slow compared to what BMW and other magazines are claiming of 5.3 - 5.5 secs. I did it on a complete dead stop and using immediate kickdown on the pedal without using the launch technique rev to 2k etc.. I didnt use the launch method thinking it might be harmful to the engine, brakes & gear according to what my dealer quoted.

I tried all modes sports & sports + and what surprised me most was that I was getting better results when the shifter was on the "D" rather than shifting it to the left "DS" I know it depends on a lot of variables including climate and tyres etc.. I need to try it again but whats the best way to launch and in what mode?

The 335xi will definitely be quicker at least 0.3- 0.5 faster than the 335i. The bottom line is that magazines will state something else but we drivers need to see ourselves what performance we are getting on the clock. 0-100 or 0-60 nowadays is a marketing tactic used by auto companies just to advertise their product. Also USA BMW website claims 0-60 in 5.1 secs for the 335i while the European site claims 5.5 secs. So it doesnt matter what they say , its up to you to find out your self what you get.

Given the combination of optimizing a tight rpm power band on the 8 spd/auto, sport auto shift, early low rpm torque, and a/w drive power delivery to all four wheels, the 335i xDrive may very well give the M3 a run for the money on 0-60. However in a real world track environment, the M3 will probably be in a class of it's own. Unfortunately there are no factual data or creditable articles to back up my "innuendo" / "unsubstantiated claim". Just a gut hunch based on the conglomerate of information/misinformation available as fodder for common consumption. Just a thought. It'd be interesting for a "credible" (yes, I use this term loosely') media source to conduct a performance comparison of the M3 to the 335i xDrive (Summer tires w/Adaptive suspension). Gut instinct says it will be close.

I know the timing sucks , I need to try it out again. I used the normal start/stop watch and also on the phone and all the results were showing above 6 seconds :S

If you don't build the revs before launch you aren't ever going to match the published 0-60 times for any car. That goes double for an AWD car, which is easy to "bog down" if you launch it badly and lose a lot of time.

The 328i xdrive was testes by motor trend mag, and they achieved a time of 5.6 (0-60). I'm not sure if I'm right, but the N55 has a twin-turbo. Even if it is a single turbo, it does have over 300hp. I would think that the fastest time can be around 4.6 seconds.

handling wise it can never compare to m3, thats where m3 beats out beasts like c63 amg and cts-v but straight line is not one of m3's stong points. (not that it should be, it is fast enough)
