Interior Lighting - Sport vs. Classic
I am trying to understand what these two modes of interior lighting are. There are two options for "Sport Mode" and "Classic Mode".
I would have expected it to be on or around page 91 in the owner's manual. In the lighting menu on iDrive the option I am referring to is directly above the word "ambient" in the picture below. I suppose sport and classic could be pre-sets for the brightness of the ambient lighting but if it is I couldnt discern a difference. Anyone have any idea what this could be? I will take a picture of the actual menu from my car in a bit.

I believe this setting refers to the tiny led sitting between the reading lights on the roof console (around the moonroof controls). Sport setting sets the led to white while classic turns it orange... hard to notice the difference in daylight unless you look straight at it or put your hand right under it.

Yes, that's exactly what they are. Classic is the amber style BMW has had for a while. Sport is white, like the reading lamps. More easily visible at night.

It lights up the strips along the door panels. I crank and it up and have it set on the red. I wish it was a bit brighter, it is nice though. You can tell at night when you run your hands underneath.

....the forum never fails... thanks! I think I lean towards the classic too. I'll have to try toggling these once I get in the car tonight.

Hmmm, do all F30s have these LEDs? Or just certain lines? My 328i Sportline doesn't have the up lights on the B pillar.

FYI for anyone considering this option and interior colors. With the black interior the lighting is not discernible unless I put my hand right under the LED strip (brightness is turned up to max)- one of my only disappointments with my build choices.

For Luxury line it is the same as Sport line except that the White color is called "Luxury" instead of "Sport" ,
this light can be noticed in the front and rear roof lamps and in the legs area of the driver and front passanger area , also you can notice it in column between the front and rear door above the "Air Bag" sign , the last place is the only noticable place , in other places you must put your hand or leg to notice it. |

All have them, but only certain trims have the B pillar lighting.

Apparently Sport and Msport lines do not have the lighting on the B-pillar where it says "airbag"

On a F30 Sportline, The lights are placed above the center console & footwell (driver & passenger). There is no where else that i'm aware of where the lights are. Sport looks pretty cool at night, would prefer them to be a bit brighter though
