^msport front bumper DEFINITELY helps the f30 look better. i don't know what the fuck is up with the standard front bumper on the f30. the weird hood line is one thing; it doesn't even cover up the bottom of the intercooler.....looks awful if you ask me, like BMW half-assed the design of the front bumper.

The way the E90 is lowered , the whole stance and the blacked out grille plus the black rearlights vs the 'normal' F30, makes this comparison a bit like apples and oranges imo, just what Jason already stated.

Longtran or whoever may be first will eventually post a dropped F30 on 20" for sure. The question is:When?

The live photo comparison says a lot. Cannot say one looks better than the other, however given the fact there's little difference in overall dimensions, the F30 seems significantly longer and wider than the E90. As I've mentioned before, seeing is believing and I hope to put speculation to rest when I view it, in person, at the Chicago Auto Show.

I just don't like the F30 front bumper side by side to the E90.

Would be interesting to see how the F30 dimensions compare to an E39 5 series.

The whole front end, including the hood line, is like that to comply with the new pedestrian safety laws in Europe. In addition, BMW wanted to make the 3-series more aggressive and slightly different than the new 5-series, especially at the front. If you have noticed, the front of the 5er is not as forward leaning as the 3er's.

When they LCI the 3-series in 3-4 years, they might do some minor changes but overall the shape of the front as well as the hood line will remain the same.

I personally find the F30 better looking, inside and out, than the E90. But I remember when the E90 came out many E46 fans and owners weren't happy with the design, just like you aren't now with the F30.

The problem with the F30 front end, for me, is that while it does achieve aggressiveness, it does so by way of awkwardness.

I get that the low nose and the angle of the grille give it an aggressive stance, but then the hood should really be lower all together, instead of forming the very awkward humpback shape just behind the grille. I know it's for the pedestrian safety, but then I would point you to the A4 and the C-class for largely avoiding such an awkwardness.

The overall effect is that you see very clearly what problem the design team tried to solve, and succeeded about three quarters of the way.

I think you need to see the front in person to fully appreciate it. It's very aggressive.

You are right that I should reserve final judgement until I see it in person, but just to be clear, I agree that it looks very aggressive. I was just saying that the pictures, to me, seem like the design team wanted to pull off an aggressive look that was ultimately not in harmony with the hard points of the car that were presumably determined by the safety regulations.

I had the opportunity to sit in a new F30 at the Houston auto show and was extremely impressed not only with how it looked, but how much nicer the interior was and the options you could order (i.e. HUD) Very nice car.

I think the E46 was a much better design, at it's time, then the E90 is currently.

the difference is pretty minimal so it's good, the e90 owners won't feel like they are driving an outdated car
