I am here, where are you? (sorry couldn't hold back on that one, lol)

Southeast PA outside Philly. Cold here now, missed a 24" Blizzard and luckily ended up with 4".

Well, funny you saying that. I am a local, sort of (St. Albans). And Leverstock Green is forever embedded in my psyche, and also has a bit to do with my BMW history as it goes.

If you remember that winter where us southern softies got more than the usual 2mm of snow (2008 or 2009 I think), I was working in Hemel, and coincidentally had taken my wife's 1 series to work. Summer tyres, needless to say I got stranded. Ironically, I ditched the car at the Hemel Snow Centre (you couldn't make it up).

Gridlock, no cabs, so I started the 7 miles trudge back from Hemel to St. Albans, which of course takes you through Leverstock Green. I had a proper Dickensian moment, seeing the glow of an open fire through the window of the Leather Bottle pub. I stopped in, had dinner and 3 pints, and then managed to hitch a lift all the way back to St Albans!

So I won't have a bad word said about that village And the post-script is that I was so scarred by that experience, that I specced x-drive on my next 3 series! Obviously before I had the wisdom conferred on me by this forum that winter tyres on RWD are far more effective than AWD on summers!

Been to other Centre parcs before , would recommend Whinefell but less so Nottingham as it's more run down.

Also beware school holidays they really bump up the prices.

Ps Great minds thinking alike me thinks

We've been to centre parcs in Germany for each of the last two summers. It was great but perhaps not so keen on going abroad this year so looking closer to home.

At the moment... wet!

Not been to a Center Parcs before so can't compare to others. So far we're having a good time. Loads to do for young ones and adults but not so much for babies. The toddler area in the pool is very small due to construction of a much bigger area. Lots of good (chain) restaurants and surprisingly well equipped kitchens, at least in their 'executive' accommodation. Lodge itself is well appointed but could do with a refurb as some elements such as the TV are starting to look old. Managed to get Netflix up and running via Chromecast so all good for some films etc in the evening.

We will come again, just glad I don't yet have to pay school holiday prices! At £429 for the midweek break it's fine. I think I'd have difficulty feeling good about it if I'd paid over £1k for the same lodge and time!

I like leverstock green - shame it's rented and ends soon. Buying in apsley (or Shendish if you go by golf courses) but will miss the walk to the deli and the pubs of LG...

I have an awd Volvo on all season tyres - not seen a flake of snow since I bought it....

In a cab from CDG to La Defense, Paris - gorgeous day here

Immigration lines at CDG were worse than I've seen recently at JFK, mind you they've put machines in JFK to speed things up.

Gone are the days of a 90 min wait for Immigration there (well, maybe not).
