New car - cheap pcp - options for daughter

I'm Looking for some help finding car deals for my daughter.

She wants to buy a new car for the benefits it brings (warranty / cheap finance / offers etc)

The aim is to buy something she can afford to pay for monthly whilst saving for the balloon also so that if she still likes the car she can buy it and own it for a few more years after that

Size - Ibiza / Leon size car
Doors - preferably 5
Fuel - petrol
Engine - not too big, insurance is a consideration
Miles - say max 7500 a year
Price range - up to 200/month max, preferably less to allow more saving
Deposit - preferably nil, max 500

Ideally with Bluetooth.

Road tax - I am assuming a car bought now with low emissions will be cheaper than one after the 1st April?, I haven't looked at smaller cars yet

any suggestions?

Cheers

We have an Audi a1 sportback 1.4 tfsi in the family on a pcp at around £210 a month with £500 deposit. We've had it for about 18 months and it's a lovely little car and fun to drive at times - I'd highly recommend it.

I'd lease at that mileage, pcp works out more/tied into more debt.

24 month lease 6 months down you'll get a decent fiesta/seat Ibiza/polo/ anything like that, all have Bluetooth etc.

You'll also get good A3 deals for around £200 ish

Oh and you can buy after a lease too, we are about to with a fiesta.

i don’t think i’ll PCP a car again - it is way too expensive to buy the car at the end of the term, and this tempts / means you need to really enter another deal to keep motoring -
I’m going down the route of second hand cars from now on - buying new is just ay too expensive to do personally - might be different if you get a car allowance with work tho.

Lease is the way to go unless you want her to fork out £8K at the end of the term and buy it

Look here
https://www.nationwidevehiclecontrac...Door-46959.htm

My nephew has one and it's a cracking car, fully loaded, bluetooth Nav etc and if you tweak the figures it comes out at this

3 months upfront, 35x£146 at 8,000 miles. All includes VAT

Was looking for my sister in law recently, found a Fiesta for £120pm with £400ish down payment!

Be quick though as the new shape Fiesta is out soon so will not have deals like this.

I agree the PCP route is wearing thin for me as well a cheap lease over 24 months makes sense or buying a second hand car outright on HP.

I did a 48 month on the M3 and I'm regretting it to be honest 1 year out of warranty and yet still under the agreement (my bad)

I'm going to keep the car as it's the only way the deal makes sense , to pay £XXXXX for 4 years and then give it back would cut me to ribbons.

But lease deals like the Golf R or recent S5 over 24 months can make some sense.

The way I see it it comes down to two things - how likely is she to keep the car and how much she likes the new car smell!. If it's highly likely then I'd personally go for an approved used of any brand that she likes that is under/ close to 2 years and under 20-30k miles. It will feel and look like new and someone else would have taken the majority of the depreciation. Also finance it on a 4-5 year bank loan with 3% Apr. In the long run this is the only way to pay less for a car you like and monthlys will be the same as a PCP. If you want to ditch the car you can equally on the second/ third year mark and pay off the loan. If you like the car you run the loan to completion and it's yours.

A 2 year old car will most likely have at least 1 year warranty left and easily extended through the dealer. the question to her is it will she keep the car or decide to ditch it within a year or two? It might be worth reminding her that with a PCP or lease she is only paying for the depreciation. So why not let someone else take the hit as the car will loose the most money over its first 2-3 years?

There is a new Leon out and the FR has decent kit.

Best bet is just get her out to a few different garages and see what suits.

There is a new Ibiza out that is just like a scaled down Leon. Both mostly excellent cars and extremely good value when compared with the equivalent VW or Audi models.

But IMHO the dealers are few and far between and poorly equipped for good aftersales support, which is a real shame. It is precisely the reason why Mrs Ronime is running around in a 3 month old BMW right now instead of booking her Leon in for an MOT and annual service.

Nationwide have Fiesta Zetec Ecoboosts on a 3+35 PCH deal at £135/month. Really not worth owning a reasonably new small car at this kind of price.

Yes I have found that with Seat dealers, the one in wolves is utterly wank.

Found one in Worcester (Listers) that's canny, should be test driving a Leon Cupra ST 300 next Sunday.

Lease deals on small cars are very good, obviously aimed at soup dribblers

My wife has a fiesta. The 1 litre ecoboost engine is a peach, surprisingly good fun to drive.

Pretty sure my local dealer has just finished and offer £199 per month £1200 depo. Not sure what option were included. Roughly every £20 a month knocks a bag off the depo.

We've just 'helped' buy a 6mth old Zetec S 1.0ltr ecoboost for our 18yr old son. Wish I had a car like that at 18. Goes well and looks the part. His black box insurance keeps him in check too. £555 for him to insure it fully comp.
Looked at leasing and against buying new leasing was cheaper, but more expensive than buying at 6months and 4K miles old.

Which insurance company is that with? Struggling to find insurance for my son on the Citigo that is less than four figures.

I was thinking same - presume it's good postcode, named drivers, occupation etc that help with that!

Churchill Drivesure. He has 1 yrs NCB now.

His first year's policy was just under £900 for a 1.2 Polo. He started the policy on his 17th birthday as a learner obviously but the policy didn't increase on passing his test like many do. Whichever company you end up with check what happens when he passes his test. Most increase significantly but its not immediately clear when getting quotes.
