I know this thread is a little old but finally here is an update I case anyone else has this issue.

So I called my dealership to find out what was going on with the ecu error and have been told there is a fix for it...the car went in on Thursday and all done, I was told that the Instrument Cluster had to be removed to perform a full factory reset and they have reloaded the original software back on and all is now fine.

So my thoughts are that they original updated with a software that was not suitable for my model but that just my gut feeling.

Glad it's sorted, but you do not have to remove the cluster to change the software in it!
