Edit: Guys, i recently received the m performance carbon fiber shifter and the screw is a T8! You can probably turn the screw with a T6 but it doesnt fill the hole as well and is prone to slipping while in the star peg. I put my T8 in there and it gripped hard and strong without any chance for grinding the hole apart. T8 torx screw is the one to use!

I've got a sport automatic transmission. I want to change the original cover with a cover with an M on it, but I don't know how to remove safely the original cover. The included removal tools are totally crap.
Some one knows how to do it safely? Thanks in advance.

Use that blue pry tool to gently pry up around the edges. It's just glued down and will come loose easily.

Thanks for the advice, but like I've already said, that doesn't work... . The tools are to soft, to weak,... .

Thats simple, just look at the pictures. Insert a very small slotted screwdriver into the top gap of the old cover and start to move the screwdriver a little around. You would determine that the cover is moving a bit. Now tilt the screwdriver upwards and watch the cover is coming off. The old adhesive strip below should remain, if you want to rechange it any time again.
Now pull off the cover from the adhesive strip of the M-cover and positioning it correct at the shifter knob. Insert and press with slight force after it, your done.

One minor complaint. The transparent rectangle for the M/S function LED becomes a fraction lower than OEM (see red oval in the picture below). So you see a little of the alu housing from the gearknob. If you make those two tiny spots black before you glue the cover, you want see anything.

Be warned about imported "OEM M-parts" which are bogus caused by far east fakes. If the customs open up the package and aware the counterfeit product they're be able to charge you for buying known fake products.
Dunno how they would handle that into Belgium but I wont try that in Germany. Btw: Mine is the original including the shifter

https://www.leebmann24.de/blende-gws...312250698.html I know about the fake parts, but little things like this are passing the customs. They got more work with intercepting bigger fake things, I guess.

Agree, thanks to the thread! I just did the same.
The screw head that fits is a T8 star head.
