Is that Mineral Gray? That is what my car will have.

Did you put the flaps just on the back? Are you pleased?

My previous cars all have had flaps and I think they are ueful to keep dirt and rcoks off the sides of the car.

Yes it's mineral grey with mud guards on all 4. I'm happy with them, keeps rocks and debris from blasting the rear lower panels.

Thanks. I know I am going to like the car color, and the black flaps coordinate well.

I got advice on this forum a few years ago *not* to put mudflaps on my new '09. Something vain that had to do with looks. I should have ignored the advice. It would have saved my some stone chips on the rocker panels and having to rub tar spots off of there, too.

The small mudflaps are discreet. And I would put all four on, if I had to do it.

would be nice to be able to paint the mud flaps to the body color and then install them.

I've never seen color matched mud guards but ok.

They are fairly common. I had them on my G35.

Do these help keep the rear clean? Or just the sides? The whole rear surface of my bumper gets really dirty. Never had a car with such a dirty backside before.

IMO, they look ridiculous on lighter colored cars.

I think it looks good. Might have to get them. If it helps with mud and tar build up I'm all for it.

What looks cooler, a chip free and clean lower side panels and rear with mud guards, or chipped and dirty lower sides and rear with no mudguards?

Answer: Mud guards.

If you live in an area with mild climate and little rain, then mud guards may not help much.
But if you live in an area like Chicago where we have all 4 seasons, in one day at times, mud guards really do help keep your car looking cleaner longer. Plus we also lots of debris from work trucks dropping sand and gravel as well as salt trucks dropping sale pellets all over the place. Mud guards help by being a barrier to those solid bits as your tires shoot the bits towards your lower panels.

In the winter we get a lot of wet and salt drenched slushy goo that gets splashed everywhere. Mudguards have made a big difference on my cars. You clearly see the dried on salt stains on the lower sides of cars that don't have mudguards compared to cars with guards. My cars then look good and theirs don't look so cool.

It would be really cool if BMW offered the mudguards in body colors.
The mudguards on my 135i looked better as they were a bit wider/flared compared to the guards for the F30's. The F30 guards still look good imo.

The on,y reason I do not have them is becauses I was told they a not compatable with the M trim.

Father in law had them on an old 320i and swore by them for the reasons stated.

I installed them myself the first week I owned the car. I have to say I was surprised at how clean they keep the valances. I was driving to work last week in my freshly washed, polished and waxed car. It hadn't rained for at least 4 days so I was super-P!@#ed when I come over a crest in the road I was driving to see a fair amount of water runoff from wash on the side of the road. I had no choice but to drive through it but when I got to work, I looked at my car and there were only a few small water spots on the flaps themselves. Otherwise the car was clean. Here is a iphone pic of the flaps installed on my car.
