1st off let me say this is great work by everyone on the forum. can express enough how much I appreciate all the work the forum member put into this.

So here is my situation. I have a 2012 F30 335i sport line.

I coded everything the way I wanted when I 1st got the car and it worked great. I took the car in for my 1st service and the dealer upgraded the the software and cleared all my coding efforts. my question is how do I determine which version of E-sys and data files I should be using now and how to I get these files?

Thoughts on this ?
I think it is great in theory, but in impossible in practice. You can't split the existing thread up, and going forward, you could try and lock this thread, and have two new threads created, but can promise you that people will continue to make requests for software in any and every thread, and the new thread will end up looking just like this thread.

If you use the latest E-Sys and PSdZData, then you just don't have to worry about it.

PM sent.

Anyone know the code to keep the top view cameras on while they are folded in or when the door is opened? sometimes I fold my mirrors in when backing up and then I get the iDrive turning off the cameras, or if the door is open it turns the cameras off.

The proper thing to do is flash the head unit and write your car's VIN to it, and then buy from BMW all new FSC Codes for both Nav Application and Voice Control (and SAT Radio, and BMW Apps if needed), and then Import and Activate them in the head unit. This will be very expensive.

The alternative is to use a CIC PnP Activation Module (aka CAN Filter), which will fool you car's CAS Module into thinking the NBT VIN matches CAS VIN, and then you do not need to replace the FSC Codes:

Hey Shawn, would you happen to know if these PnP activation modules will work for both CIC and NBT retrofits? I've tried looking everywhere and couldn't find any answers.

I think at one point, the links were directly on the first page of this thread but they had to take them down due to the rules on this forum. It we had it though, it would save Shawn a lot of work

Bimmertech got back to me and confirmed that the adapter will work on NBT also. Only other thing I found out is that I will also need to change my CID in order for this to work since the connector is different.

The head unit is only $587 but the CID is $1600; I guess it's not possible by just switching out the head unit

I thought I had read that it was possible to use the existing CID with a modification of the wiring to it.

Do you have the NBT and CID prices swapped? They seem ass backwards.

That's what I thought too but I checked Tisher and bmwpartsupply and the head unit is actually the component that's less expensive.

Do you have any additional info on how to use the existing connector from the existing CID to go to the NBT unit? I've seen several people upgrade their HU_ENTRY vehicles to HU_NBT but I haven't seen a HU_CIC based car upgrade to HU_NBT - at least not for the F30.

Location Combobox

Hello,

I'm trying to find the location of the combobox in a F30 (production date. 2012-05-02 european model)

On the right side of the trunk is the battery located, on the left side I don't really see a cover to look behind it.

The F30 i'm working on has 6NH and 609, my goal is to change it to 6NK if this is possible. I found how i can change the FA, but what else needs to be done after this?

Also does this allow BMW Online/BMW Apps via iphone to work

Can anyone point me in the riht direction.

If you have either CMB_MEDIA or HU_NBT in your SVT, then you have Combox.

And if you do, change FA to 6NK, and VO Code either CMB_MEDIA or HU_NBT.

This will allow BT Audio Streaming (A2DP), but it has nothing to do with BMW Online / BMW Apps.

Too many variables to know. All I can say is you can try Coding the data connection for Internet / BMW Live and see what you get.

For BMW Apps, you need 9C FSC Code Imported and Activated in Head Unit, and 6NR Coding.

Yes! My ODB-cable arrived yesterday. The only thing I still need is the e-sys software to use. Got a version of e-sys but it seems like I need some other data. Anyone who can PM me about that? I'm riding a 2013 F31 330d.
Thanks!
