Thumbs up 2013 328i M Sport Lease Payment Amount??

Hi everyone,

I visited a dealer today to run numbers on a 2013 328i M Sport lease. I'm hoping someone can advise if I am getting a good deal or not.

MSRP: $44,850
Sales Prce: ~$41,350
Money factor: .00175
$750 Acq fee in cap cost
Fees:~$1k
3yr/12k lease
9.3% tax rate
0 down quoted at $650/month..Does this sound right?

Thanks!

money factor looks a bit high. get that down to .00145 and you can probably save 20bucks a month

That's what I thought but the dealer bulletin showed that figure. Should money factor be at .00145?

multiply the money factor by 2400 to get a comparable interest rate that BMW is charging. It is somewhat high compared to other leases.

My apologies, sales price is $42,300 with 61% residual for the 2013MY which brings the expected payment around $600..I will speak to the sales manager tomorrow to find the discrepancy..from the feedback I have received $650 is paying too much for the car. Thanks!

I just ran the figures with the $750 acq fee + $1k in fees (registration, doc, etc) and came up with $650. Is this right?

the 2013 residual at 36k should be 61% (59% base rate at 15k mi/year, +2% for 12k, 3% for 10k) and the buy rate is .00145. .00175 seems a tad high.

Way high.

Go to BMWconfig.com and find out what the actual Invoice price is on your car and how far off your sales price is. From what I've seen anything over $500 over invoice is high on a 328.

Acquisition fee should also be $725 and the money factor should be .00145 for August. If you sign in September it may go up.

I'm a novice when it comes to leasing, but don't you want a high residual? As I understand it, the residual is the projected value of the car at the end of the lease. In a lease, you are paying for the anticipated depreciation of the car during the lease term; if the residual value of the car is high, then the anticipated depreciation of the vehicle is lowered, right? i.e., all things being equal, your lease payments will be lower on a car with a higher residual. Am I missing something?

Yes, you want a high residual and a low money factor. The poster was saying that the residual being used in the calculation was incorrect as it was for the 10k/year mileage not 12k/year which is 2% lower at 61% residual.

I'm not sure what the fees were for but I recall doc fee taking a big chunk of the 1k..btw this dealer and their sister store have been very firm on their payments at 650..One of the dealers has agreed to $625/month using the September bulletins but I haven't looked at the numbers..I feel that they are still trying to rip me off...I asked for $600/month on august 31st thinking that they would be willing to budge but the dealer did not call me back..also when I ran the figures with the sales manager over the phone he mentioned that first month's payment needs to be added to my gross cap cost since I am not putting anything down, which doesn't make sense since it is accounted for in the original cap cost, any ideas if this is in fact true?

So your going to lease this car, with identical payments on a 328 per month to me, and I am buying mine. At the end of 3 years, I still have a little over 2 years of payments, burt you have nothing but an empty wallet to show for your car. How does this make sense? Unless something drastic happens to BMW's value, I will have more value left in my car then what I will owe. I guess this is why I own cars, rather then have a dealer tell me I am getting a good deal while shoving it in from behind. No Thank you.
