I'm really hoping the ship's not delayed too long, because I've arranged a long ass road trip on the 11th to break in the new car. Would be kinda stupid going on it with a rental....

Good morning everyone, sorry I have been away for a few days. I wonder if the ship Swift Ace has already docked in Bayonne once and its stopping there again? This wait has been brutal. I'm starting to give up hope. I am taking a ride out to Towne BMW today to sign the contract/paperwork for my new f30 and i have no idea when I will actually get it. I guess the contract/paper work has to be turned into BMW NA/FS by 3pm today in order to get all the rebates etc. I will keep you all updated.

If it arrives tomorrow, it will have been a 13 day crossing. That doesn't seem too out of the ordinary. Maybe it was just weather and an overly optimistic initially scheduled arrival time.
Either way shouldn't be too much longer. Of course, I've heard that clearing customs and/or getting through the VPC can also cause additional delays, so ya never know. |

Interesting in that WW's website shows the ship arriving today, rather than tomorrow. But you can now see the ship's position as of about an hour ago on marine traffic.com, and it appears that in early a.m. arrival tomorrow is correct.

Edit: Really odd. All the various trackers I use still show it out of range. Last edited by gweeta; 01-02-2013 at 10:23 AM.. |

If you go on marine traffic.com, and click on vessel, and type in swift ace, it will give you the latitude and longitude as of about 2 1/2 hours ago. But it appears the ship is still too far off the coast to be plotted on the map.

Well I went to vessels and typed in Swift Ace, I'm showing speed of 17.8 and course 260 but not seeing latitude and longitude. However, if I click show on map, it'll show a patch of ocean just southwest of NJ, so wondering if that's accurate at all. Still, should be docking tonight/tomorrow if all the factors point to it. Now to hope for no VPC delays!

Just hoping that the dealer can deliver the car before we leave on a 10 day vacation next Wednesday. We would prefer that the car not be sitting on their lot during that period. |

The info on marinetraffic has changed-- it now shows a last position reported today at 19:54 (UTC), which I think is 2:54 EST. Its course is 311 degrees and speed is 5.6 knots. Map still shows the patch of water off NJ but not the actual position.
If I obsessed about work like I am about this, imagine how much I could get done. |

Hopefully getting my sport grilles installed won't hold it up too much. Need to take delivery by next Friday or gonna have a really pointless "new car" road trip.

Seriously, at least the patch of ocean that corresponds to the latest coordinates is closer to New York then it was a couple of hours ago. But why are they slowing down, it should be full speed ahead

OK. Take a look at the marine traffic map. There is an unidentified ship (grey icon) heading into the Lower Bay with heading and speed roughly similar to the heading and speed you get for the Swift Ace under the "Vessel" tab. Could that be it?
