Mirror caps replacement, help.
I am going to replace my mirror cover to some carbon caps.
Do i really need to remove the mirror glass? It seems like i can reach the clips between the glass and the housing. Have someone did this without removing the glass?? The new carbon caps also got the same clips, it's not the M Performance with the washer and screws |

Just remove the glass it?s super easy and makes the mirror cap swap very easy (and you won?t break anything) glass just snaps out and in - much easier than the cap
Ps and this is important - once you pop the glass out and get a look at the clips (that hold the mirror cap in place) you’ll quickly see why you don’t want to simply pull the cap off from the front |

If you have a good set of trim removal tools the glass will come off no problem. Otherwise, pulling the caps off might break the housing the the caps clip into.
Will take you 5 minutes.

Same here.. Bought a used one off ebay. Though it has slight scuffs, better than $500 shop was asking for with parts.

Here is the post that helped me in the end:
http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...=810839&page=4 Which I'd seen it earlier. I took a plastic wedge (the one that cracked my mirror..) and used to get it started, worked fine from there. |
