2016 owners - OTA Nav updates OK?

I'm hearing some interesting noises that make me wonder if OTA updates in 2016 vehicles are buggy and can crash the headunit. If you own a 2016, please vote in the poll for stats collection.

To confirm your Nav has updated, go to Nav screen, hit the Option button, then look under Settings. Your update region and the current version will be there. The recent update is version 2016-1.

"Automatic map update
General information

Depending on the equipment and country version, the navigation data for the home region is transmitted online to the vehicle four times a year and automatically installed and updated.
Changing the home region

1.

"Navigation"
2.

Open "Options".
3.

"Navigation system version"
4.

Select the symbol. (Small gear)
5.

BMW Online is opened. Follow the instructions on the Control Display and select the desired home region."

This function requires NBT_EVO head unit. If you can set your region, your car can do OTA updates.

Checked my car (6NS) yesterday and an update was actually in progress. I haven't seen or experienced anything out of the ordinary thus far.

340i built 3rd week Jan. I have 15-4, and talked to Genius today; he said that 16-1 wasn't avail. yet, and that I can't (or don't have to) manually update.

I show an update for 2016-1 on my screen but I don't know if it's done updating yet or not

And I can no longer select the gear symbol under the navigation display

The CAN, AL (Alabama right...) update was downloaded today and continued to do so while the car was turned off in a hand car wash. So, my base version is 2015-4 and I now have 2016-1 for my region. The navigation system rebooted to complete the update with no problems.

The car's asking me to reboot the system for update. I'm kinda scared to do it. Should I?

That depends on whether you want the update or not...though I suspect that the HU system will reboot once you turn off your car and turn it back on. I'm not sure there is any way to avoid a reboot unless you leave your car running forever...

Update happened last week. North America version is still 2015-3+, but TX updated 2016-1.

I did mine and it restarted just fine. If I recall the message it asked if I wanted to restart now or let it restart on its own the next time I shut down then started the car. So I think it will restart one way or the other no matter what you do.

Unhappy

I just checked mine a 330i with NBT evo, there is no gear to select under Navigation Version.

No automatic update for me
