AC during start-stop?

Guys in "Start Stop" when the car shuts down what happens to the AC?

mine stays the same, the car does not turn off at lights when it's hot outside (seems to be hotter than low 90s).

The fan slows to a lower setting, still blowing cool air. If the thermostat is set an a low temp and the cabin hasn't been cooled to that setting, the motor will restart after a brief period and the fan will resume to it's prior speed. If MAX cooling is on, ASS will not engage at a stop.
I believe this is all documented in the manual.

In the F30's, the AC units have been detached from the engine so the AC should stay at the same temperature that was set when the car was functioning.

I was wondering why my car would start back up randomly at lights, that is probably it.

^^ this. Auto Start/Stop will be disabled when it's too hot outside so the driver doesn't have to seat in hot spa.

The car engine will restart if the AC is not cold enough.

Its not called A.S.S. its actually refered to as M.A.S. I was corrected by my dealer, when I had the car there. And I also learned it wont function when its above 98* out, And I believe he said it wont function below 20* outside. He said the computer is constantly scannig the paramaters, and he said even the battery has to be a certain voltage for it to work. If the voltage drps it turns the car back on. THis is probably what people are experiencing.

Sure looks like ASS to me:

"Auto Start/Stop function

The concept

The automatic engine start-stop function helps
save fuel. The system switches off the engine
during a stop, . . . ."

P. 61 of the manual

Thats what I told them when mine wasnt functioning, but he said in their system it comes up as M.A.S he thinks they did it like that because of exactly how its spelled ASS lol. I wouldnt think Germans care to change it since ass means nothing.

I dunno this is what my Service guy said.

They reflashed my car and it now works flawless.

Let me get this right - The ASS system will turn off when it's too hot or too cold?

AC Keeps Chilling

Here is the excerpt from BMW TIS technician training files:
-To maintain the climate control of the passenger compartment when the engine is off, for vehicles with automatic start/stop function, a cold accumulator, known as the storage evaporator is installed.

So there's a sensor that monitors my interior and shuts down my ASS if it's outside operational tolerances? Talk about a "back up" system.

(Sorry... couldn't resist)

Yes, on warmer days it won't turn off or it will turn off but then turn back on after about a minute.

I just downloaded the owners manual. (pp61-63). There is a button on top of the on/off switch that you can use to shut off the stop/start feture. The manual also says that when the car is stopped, the AC fan function will be reduced.
