de-badging, something only 328i owners do?
is it just me or does it seem like 90% of people de-badging their cars are 328i owners?
i guess I don't get the point of it, the 328i is still faster than most cars on the road, and I would assume anyone that sees a de-badged car just assumes its the lower powered one anyway (or someone trying to make people think its a 5 series), so whats the point? I know some people just like the look of the rear without the labels but the number badges are tradition and makes a trunk look too bare without them. The only badge I am thinking of taking off is the xdrive one on the rear, its so out of place, no clue why they went back to putting it on the rear, looked much better on the sides, or just as 335xi (drop the hole xdrive). De-badging has nothing to do with whether its a 328 or 335 its for people that like a cleaner look. Some people like plate frams with wording on it, others like no plate frame, giving it a clean look.

I care not at all for what the car is, I de-dabge to be cleaner.
My father asks me to do it on every car he has had and now even my wife has me do it on her cars. I give two shits about what other people think.

I would never de-badge, to me it seems like you're hiding something. Though, I've seen de-badged 328i, 335i, and M3. However, never a de-badged 6 or 7 series. |

My neighbor has de-badged his M5. And most BMW's in Europe are de-badged as well.

most cars in Europe are de-badged because they are lower tier models, when I did and ED this august, I don't think I saw one 335i or 535i, it was all 320s and 520s and 120s I even saw a 720 ( I guess he wanted to save on gas)

Even if you de-badge a 328i for whatever reason, you can't hide the exhaust unless you replaced it. And if you did that, you probably could have bought a 335i for about the same money.

I debadged my Mercedes E550 Coupe. I guess the uninitiated thought it was a V6 but they'd be mistaken. I've debadged every car I've owned in the last decade, including most of the emblems off my Jeep.

If a car can be de-badged without leaving holes, I usually do so. Really like the much cleaner look, has nothing to do with the "status" of the car to me.

I removed the 335i off my car. It is much cleaner looking, the chrome on the alpine white looked bad.

Which is why I always thought people who debadge just want people to see they are driving a BMW but not think (its the cheapest BMW...). personally I don't care and I didn't post this to offend anyone, I was just curious as to why people do it. Also I should have put a side note on there that people on these forums are different than your typical BMW owner. Maybe most people on these forums just want the "clean" look but I think in general all the de-badged BMWs I have seen its people wanting to hide the engine they really have the other reason I thought it was interesting how many BMWs are debadged is that I don't really see Audi's, Mercedes, or Lexus cars de-badged, at least not around Chicago. and this thread was meant for US only buyers as Euro has a whole different culture and I would probably debadge my M3 so it doesn't get stolen over there |

It's all about looks. Anyone that knows anything about BMWs can tell by the exhaust.
