Did they JUST release this? Man, $1500 is steep for just an axle back!... Can't wait to hear it...

I must admit, I paid about $1100 or so for the M Performance AB, and the black tips on this are sexier... I might sell my MPE at a loss for this. DAMN IT.

The Arka is a full exhaust. THe Arka is nice but with the carbon fiber tips it is pushing 3700 which is a bit steep for me.
The Eisenmann axel back exhaust with the 3.5 inch tips is 2800 which is crazy expensive for just an axel back exhaust. I just installed it on my 14 335xi MSport but picked one up used for 1550. It was def worth the 1550 but I would never pay 2800 for an axel back. So I would say the Dianan is a steal at 1500 haha. |

What's the claimed hp on the MPE? 2-3? Maybe the few extra hp and black tips for an extra $400 is worth it? I think it comes down to sound.

Dinan over rates a lot of their products when it comes to hp. A local shop dynod an e92 M3 with full Dinan intake/rear section exhaust/throttle bodies/pulley and it made 0 hp more than another stock car's dyno. Of course there is variation between different cars, but it wasn't even significant enough to register. I have yet to see a dyno for an N20 or N55 where there was power made from a muffler.
But if you do want to buy the Dinan, buy it for the sound! I bet it'll be good |

Nice, that's an amazing deal. I would've bought it if he had the sport version. The race w/ an aftermarket downpipe just makes it too loud.

Yea the race version actually isn't to to loud. It gives it a nice growl. I have the stop downpipe so it isn't that bad. It def would have been to loud for me if I change the downpipe. You are right though it was a great deal.

I had the Dinan exhaust on my 07 E92 335i, and it had great sound. Got it secondhand from a guy who bought it and then decided to go full cat-back, so I paid around $800 for it, and had a muffler shop weld the two units on for $100. Definitely felt some difference (although slight), where back-pressure is a factor in a turbo-engined car, unlike the E92 M3 which is NA. Had they put the Dinan software on the M3 mentioned in another post, there would have been a much bigger difference.
Truthfully, no axle-back exhaust is going to give you very much of a power increase - they're mostly for sound/appearance. This looks like a good one for those purposes.

As far as cosmetics, I do like the black tips. Plus they're a little larger than the MPE 89mm vs 80mm. However, at some point they start looking like paint cans under your bumper. Looking forward to video upload.

Amen to that - sort of a loss of credibility after they get too large!

Ehhh...where they cut the vid off, sounds like it was getting pretty raspy. Revs sound much better than MPE though.
I think as far as power gains with exhausts, you probably need at least a full catback. In my 335 with Meist catback I feel power gain up top for sure, but its only noticeable around 5k plus. On my M6 with full turbo back Meist(DPs included) the car feels like its tuned...I feel more power throughout the entire band. |
