Black Gloss Door/Window Trim Scratches

Both side of the car has marks/swirls on the gloss shadow trim in between the windows/doors.

Bit of an eye sore (especially to me), more so when the sun is out.

Has anyone had these and removed them successfully with a product?

I was looking at these:

Gtechniq P1

http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/car-po.../prod_844.html

Meguiars PlasRX

http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/engine.../prod_283.html

Third but least favourite option is I suck it up and live with it!

Has anyone used or have experience with these products to fix this?

Cheers

I just used some basic car wax on mine. Seemed to work OK.

Give them a machine polish with a light cutting cream such as Dodo Lime Prime

These are the worst bits on the car for swirls, you just have to show them a wash mitt and they mark up!

I've used that PlastX stuff previously and it was good, you can get decent results by hand as well but even with a protective coating these trim pieces will need touching up multiple times. Same thing happens with the gloss black trim on most flat screen TVs!!

I thought mine were pretty bad even after just a few very careful washes. Give the car a coat of wax after the last one however and they look like new again. I thought they would require polishing out and all sorts

You can make then significantly better by hand with something like farecla paint renovator. DA preferable though. They mark obscenely easily, as do the shadow mirror covers.

I had a 2 stage paint correction on my car back in March followed by 3 coats of 9H ceramic coating from Ceramic Pro.

The whole car is flawless now

Mines the same I'm always careful and let no one else wash the car.

I've got a DA but thinking of trying it by hand first. I'll do the usual of least abrasive first but should I do it in a circular motion, up and down or does it not really matter?

Thanks!

Thanks. You should see the rest of the car, it looks better than new.

I used a local detailer that came highly recommended, Slix. Chris the owner is a real stickler for detail www.slixcarcare.com

That stuff is fairly aggressive, the renovator is less so.

Do you suggest I go for the renovator then?
