What did you own before the F30 and what is next
do you like the car compared to what you owned in the past? anyone switching from a 3 to a 5, or vice versa. how many of you used to own an e90, and how does the f30 stack up.
personally, I love the shape and look of the f30. I think its the perfect size, weight and wheelbase for what it is. but the one thing that really keeps me away from wanting on is the interior.. it just looks so old and outdated to me. I found the building quality to be simply appalling, squeaks and rattles everywhere. then the fact that the 328i is now a turbo 4 really sealed the deal for me. otherwise, i feel like the f30's nimbleness would be a better match for my driving style vs the floaty, boat like behaviour of my f10. are you guys happy? not happy? |

I had two E90s, 328i that rear wheel drive. It was okay but lacked power. I had a E90 335xi, loved it but lacked some features. Wish I would have kept it though.
I am really enjoying the F30 328i rear wheel. It is missing a few things but I will be adding them as I go. My next car will be another BMW. I might look at a 4 series grand coupe or a 5seiries. I am thinking I will stick with BMW as my DD for awhile. |

1st gen Acura TSX. Love the steering feel, transmission, body color, and suspension. Didn't like the lack of power, understeer, and weight. After driving the F30 for a while, definitely noticed the wind noise on the TSX was crazy loud and suspension was so stiff.
Forgot to add, next is a SUV either Q5 or X3 or Macan or Cayenne

nice! how was the power? I heard of stalling issues with turbos/supercharging. I wasn't fond of the 2nd gen. Felt big and floaty to me.

I was a heavy car but I put put coils on it. It handled pretty good but you just can't get the front tires to stick to the road. No hesitation with the super charger. I had Vitviper tune it down in Portland. |

I came from a 540i with M-tech package. I skipped the E60 on purpose. When your 5er model came out in 2011 I test drove it with intention of buying, but I hated the size and suspension. It just got too big for me. I understand they have sorted out the suspension since then so I wouldn't rule out a 5er next time. I have a different view of the F30 interior. I liked it a lot when I bought the car and I still like it 3 years later. No rattles. Not outdated to me. No appalling build quality. No squeaks (except m-sport brakes). Just a perfect small sedan with great balance. I would not hesitate to buy another F3x if I were in the market right now. My E39 540i with M-tech was a beast and considered by some to be the best sedan BMW has produced and I have fond memories of it, but my F30 makes me smile every day too; no regrets for down sizing. Also, no regrets going from a NA V8 to a turbo 4. Its just as quick and gets 1.5 to 2 times the gas mileage. |

I went from a 2005 Nissan Altima v6 to an e90 335 to a f30 335. The Altima was a great car for its time but I feel the f30 is a huge step up from that and the e90. I have been in severel new cars from different manufacturers and don't feel at all like my BMW is dated.

I had a Volvo S60 which I bought due to a bad back. My wife however had a BMW Z3 that just drove way better so as I found out that the sports seats / comfort seats fitted my back equally well I went for a BMW.
My next car will definitaly be a BMW with sports seats. However I want to feel "the change" when I get a new car and I prefer sedans so I probably have to wait for the model after the G20 or maybe wait until my back does not allow me to get "down" into the F30 and go for a X4 (love it). So I actually don't anticipate any change in the next couple of years. If I had to be forced into something else from todays model range I would probably end in a 2-series coupe or convertable.

Lots of old horrid 70's Detroit beasts and then beat up 80's Japanese cars, then a nice 90's Civic, to an Integra GS-R, to two RSX-S's, then an e90 328i x, an F30 328i x, and now my 340i x. Next is a deeply good question. This car was a quest that started with the e90 for a well-balanced, comfortable, fun, AWD car. It took three tries to get it right, and I adore my 340. But now I know what a well-engineered AWD car is like to own.
I think it will be time for a new quest. RWD, perhaps. I haven't owned RWD since my rusted-out 1983 Celica GT-S in the early 90's (the last piece of crap I owned before I could had the bucks for car payments). I may be able to swing an M3 this time around without struggling on it. One thing is for certain, FWD can kiss my tail. Not going back. |

I went from a pretty bare bones E60 525xi AT to a 340i xdrive MT loaded. The tech in the 3 is amazing and the power bump (215 to 320 hp) is mind blowing. Couldn't be happier.

69 superbeetle vert, 96 Mazda 626 (both shared with dad when I was a youngster)
First "my own" car was an 88 e24 M6, I should have never sold it. Ever. That thing was amazing... Heavy, but on the highway watch out. I still remember spanking e36 M3s and the look of surprise was awesome. After that I had a 99 explorer that I built for the desert with full cage, hoops, air bumps, etc. lots of fun. Then it was a 98 e36 328i in manual as a DD beater for a bit. Traded it in for a new 05 Tacoma which was a great truck but I missed having a nimble street car, so moved into a new 09 Subaru WRX. Got into med school half way across the country, sold the WRX, drove a beat up 01 Subaru Legacy for a bit. Realized you don't want to own a 10 year old car and grabbed a certified 11 Legacy which did great for a couple years but I missed having a car I loved and could tinker with. So, CPO 2013 F30 328i xDrive it is. In Melbourne Red, which I never even considered till my car found me. Yes you read that right, all the options, slick top, at the right price. The red grabbed me and I still love having a non-ubiquitous color. Love this car, especially coming from the last couple Subarus. I knew what I was buying so I have no complaints. I will say that the e24 M6 just had something more.. Visceral about it. Both do exactly what they were designed for, it would be a crime to DD that M6 these days (and in the snow/salt here). Love these threads. Sometimes I forget how many cars I've been through in such a short time. Will be in this F30 for at least 5 years though, so going to town with mods and praying that she serves me well after CPO expires -tgm |

I had two E46 330i sedans (one of them a ZHP) and a 2007 E92 335i with Dinan S3 prior to acquiring my F30, and my next car will either be a G20 3-series or a G30 5-series (340i or 540i).
