Ordering M Performance Parts with car?

I've got a car in transit and would love to have some performance parts installed prior to delivery so I was hoping to hear about some of your experiences to help gain some clarity.

- Has anybody had the performance suspension installed prior to delivery?
- Is it better to have parts installed at dealer or VPC? Is there a difference?
- Do you pay an install fee when doing a VPC install?
- Can part prices be negotiated when doing a VPC install?
- Do you get your stock parts back along with the car when doing a VPC install?
- What performance parts can be residualized and does anybody know those current values?

1. I'm having mine installed at the dealer. (Still in transport)
2. I don't know which one is better. But I'm sure people (including me) may feel more secured if the parts are installed at the port.
3.You don't pay installation fee when you have the parts installed at the port.
4. I'm not sure if you can negotiate the price when you choose VPC install. I assume you can, but from all the dealers I have contacted, they all refused to cut down the prices for any of the performance parts.
5. No, you don't get stock parts back.
6. No idea.

I chose to install them at the dealer was because they agreed to waive installation fees and the parts are cheaper if you buy from them.
But to be honest, I'm kinda worried about what if they did a crappy job. lol I would be so pissed...
The car is on its way...fingers crossed.

What parts are you having installed that they are waving installation fees for?

You do pay the installation price if parts are installed at the port, you don't get the parts back, I was told there is a minimum amount of parts that need to be ordered before you can start residualizeing (separate minimums for both interior and exterior)

If you your car is in transit, I believe it is too late for port-install, not to mention free-installation. I'm not 100% sure, but I'm about 80% sure.

You're payment or financing to BMW is done. VPC is BMW. The terms of your deal, including options and accessories is finalized. Now you're in the dealer's hands.

I'm not 100% on other parts but I know out of the $1335 on the mPerformance Exhaust only $250 of it can be residualized. Still not a bad deal... it's basically like paying 1185 for the exhaust instead of 1335. You save about $150 by the residualized value.

I had my car modified as late as a week out from the VPC to add in the mPerformance exhaust. It absolutely can be modified as long as it hasn't arrived there yet. If your CA tells you otherwise they're either clueless or trying to milk install costs from you.

Can I ask what you paid for the exhaust?

What is VPC and which/what is port? I just started thinking of getting an F30 m-sport to build and wait.

VPC is the Vehicle Processing Center. On the west coast it is at Port Hueneme.

This is a good article to describe what VPC does, at least the Jersey one.
