(I know its way too early, bit I'll be out of town again. So here's the thread)

Just a blink of an eye and we are pretty much half way through the season.
Continuing Mercedes dominance, and fewer transparency between drivers in Mercedes (according to Wolff). I don't think anyone can even touch Mercedes before the summer break.

Unfortunate to see Williams was so close to win again, but poor pit strategy to hold off Mercedes undercut took the opportunity away. We might not see Williams stuck in P1/2 in qualify again. Especially that happened in Austria due to cooler track temperature, and Williams are able to heat up quicker than others.

Well, McLaren and Ferrari continue their miserable-no-where performance. And still NO title sponsor for McLaren.

By the way, have we seen a wet race day yet? I didn't have one last year. And so far I don't remember we have any wet races.
Maybe the British summer might bring some rain randomly.

I think this last race pretty much shows that it almost doesn't matter where Merc qualifies; they are going to beat you.

I know LH is disappointed that he missed out on the win, but don't forget the guy started P9 and would have won with better pit stops. P9 to P2 is pretty insane.

That W05 is unstoppable. They'll have the constructors championship wrapped up before it's even close to season's end.

Anyhow, Silverstone is always fun to watch. It would be cool to see LH win in front of the home crowd. Maybe the Hulk can pull off a shock podium.

Let's hope for a more exciting race perhaps thanks to a bit of rain or a bit of Maldonado.

I'd prefer some Maldonado... You can predict rain but never ol' Maldonado...

2014 BRITISH GRAND PRIX
4 – 6 JULY 2014
http://www.fia.com/british-grand-prix-preview

Round nine of the 2014 FIA Formula One World Championship sees the majority of teams faced with a short trip to their local race: the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Silverstone sets a different challenge to the circuits that have gone before this season, its defining characteristic being high-speed changes of direction that will severely test 2014’s reduced downforce specification.

There is more, however, to the modern Silverstone than just its fast cornes. The Arena layout, introduced in 2010, has subtly changed the nature of the circuit. Drivers were slow to appreciate the changes but today the infield section has acquired many fans, with the variety of lines through Turns Three and Four creating more overtaking opportunities leading into the first DRS zone on the Wellington Straight.

After three races in a row with the soft and supersoft compounds, Pirelli this weekend goes to the other end of the scale with the hard and medium tyres as the succession of medium and high-speed corners puts huge amounts of energy through the rubber. Something else to factor in when considering those corners is the fact that Silverstone is not especially demanding on the brakes. With drivers braking for only around eight per cent of the long lap, recovering the maximum allowed amount of energy through the MGU-K every lap will prove difficult, as was the case with KERS.

Mercedes have pulled a long way clear in the Constructors’ Championship but a battle royal rages between drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. Rosberg leads by 29 points but, with 11 races to go, Hamilton is far from an underdog. He has four victories to Rosberg’s three and has been unfortunate to suffer both of Mercedes’ terminal mechanical failures this season. The Briton will be highly motivated to begin closing the gap at his home race.

Just a couple photos and that's it! (dont think it necessary to start a new thread as we previously discussed)

And qualifying has become crazy due to weather. Specially when Bianchi and Marrussia ended 4th in Q1.

Top 3 qualifying goes to Rosberg, Vetttel, Button in that order. Hamilton 6th, Hulkenberg 4th and Magnussen 5th.

Crazy results. Ferrari blew it badly. Very badly. Hamilton sat in the garage and watched Nico grab pole. Lessons to be learned here.

And they FINALLY mentioned John Button's passing. Maybe I missed it earlier, but that's the first time this season I've heard them acknowledge it.

Actually Lewis was ahead of Nico for their last run but as his first 2 sectors times were far slower than his previous best he let Nico past not realising the last sector was dry and a couple of seconds faster.

Hamilton seemed very crushed/distracted afterwards.

Hopefully he'll bounce back tomorrow and kick everyone's asses.

Hamilton is faster than Nico by a margin just as Benz is faster than the rest of the cars by a margin. He should have had the championship bagged by now but he is a bit of strategic disaster which reached it's peak today. It should make for a better race tomorrow though since if he had pole it could easy become a snoozer. I'm imagining the Benz team shudders a bit over the potential team mate fight tomorrow if Lewis catches up to Nico which I personally think he will. The alternative to have to deal with Lewis if his car has another break down while Nico bags another 1st can't be to enticing either. It should be interesting to watch.

Poor Hamilton cannot get a break in the pits!

It's almost like a conspiracy.

Excellent result to keep things interesting. Good to see Bottas being able to show his quality and the potential of Williams. Ferrari signed the wrong fin...

Let's not forget Alonso's performance. He started near the back and finished near the front, well within top10

w/ stop and go penalty and fighting with Vettel for 15 laps or whatever it was. Maybe the best drive I've ever seen from him.
