As you know BMS has been working on the JB4 for the N20 motor (Stage2) for the last month or so and they have made some really solid and amazing progress.

The car is 100% stock (tune only) Only mod is the JB4 and a 50% mixture of E85 fuel and 91 octane (e.g. approx E40 fuel).

Results: A new N20 2.0l world dyno record: 300+whp and 350+wtq!!! Baseline with factory tuning (only with E85 fuel) was 237whp. Gains were as high as +70whp (~90 crank hp) in areas under the curve.

A few comments:

1) Not ready to release all of the tuning details but will say peak boost was around 23psi (compared to 17psi factory), and in areas under the curve making as much as 10psi more than the factory.

2) As expected the platform LOVES E85 fuel. Performance on 91 or 93 octane fuel will be substantially lower but will be stronger than Stage1 power levels.

And a very interesting observation I think

3) During testing they opened up the airbox to simulate a high flow intake and determine the potential for intake power gains. In doing so they found exactly zero horsepower gained even at these high boost levels. The factory airbox is simply not a restriction at 300rw. For this reason its suggested you use only the factory airbox with the N20 platform. Companies claiming gains with intakes on this platform are potentially fooling themselves and/or you.

I'm also looking forward to order the stage 2 upgrade kit. Already been running the stage 1 for a year and I need some more juice =)

Everyone must be blowing up your site b/c that section is down! haha

Hey Mike, were there any changes in the mapping since 6/3/13 (when I got the Stage 2 Tune)?

Looking at the unit it seems like it'd be a whole lot easier to install than the N54 PNP tunes were. Is that a fair call?

For Stage2 BETA currently it's the 1, 3, and 5 only. X1 owners can use it but with a few software changes. No X3 that I know of.

Remember Stage2 is BETA and I personally won't have any additional information on it. Anyone wanting to help test it will need to direct any and all inquires to BMS and check their forum for updates and notes as they publish them.

alright guys im in need of some help.

I just installed the stage 2 upgrade just now, I am able to communicate to the JB4 with the laptop.

But for the life of me, I cant figure out how to switch maps. I can do 0-1 on the steering wheel. But in the program, I cant see how to get to map 2. Under the settings tab I see a drop down for 1-8, but they dont say anything about maps but more of the car (1&2 N54, 3&4 N55, 5 G4 ISO, 8 N20/26 etc)

Are these the actual maps with generic titles? If so, Im trying to run map 2 (+4 psi) but can figure out how to get it there.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yep, the map-switching is at the top of the far right hand column on the "main page" of the JB4 software. Hope you found it okay!

Installed my JB4/S2 BETA this weekend and ayou'll love it when you get it. Can't post much else other than that I'm very pleased with the results so far over S1 (I'm an electric wastegate N20 btw).

The JB4/S2 upgrade process was really straight-forward and the install guide was perfect. However, I ran into trouble with the FlexFuel wires once installed, and I've now reverted back to running the JB4/S2 without them. Part of me thinks that the issues I ran into were related to the fact I was using a FlexFuel install guide from the N55.

Is anyone running these FlexFuel wires successfully on an N20 with the JB4/S2 BETA yet?
If so, is there any way we can get a few demonstrative pics of the FlexFuel setup on an N20/N26, as well as the correct settings we should have in the JB4 interface? I believe my install was correct and I had the open loop setting at 60 per the N55 install guide, so thought that I'd check to see if anyone else here could shed some light on their JB4 FlexFuel setup.

The BMS Stage 2 tune is awesome to say the least. I have a 125i and the gains have been phenomenal. With my car weighing in @ 1360kg, this makes for blistering performance. Go see my quarter mile and 0-60mph times on the 1/4 mile thread in this forum and I am sure you will agree.....

Just placed an order for s2 on n54tuning on Friday. Can't wait for it to be delivered. Literally checking the order status every hour.

How long does it usually take to ship? Can't wait!!

Well .. then what was the diff between stock and Stage 1 for you? Otherwise you're not really telling us much

Stage 1 made me realize how boring my stock car was, meaning the factory setup is very conservative. Between 1000 and ~3000rpm, still there isn't much difference, as you can see from the dyno graph floating around the web. However, after 3000rpm, not to mention the power and torque gains, the throttle response was significantly improved that it made me finally think that this car was in fact a sport sedan. Between 4000-6000rpm on 1st or 2nd gear, I could also observe a bit of random rear wheel spin depending on the road conditions(dry road). I used 91 pump gas with stage 1.

We need a DYNO with Stage 2 on 91 octane. I'm ready to place the order.

I noticed a Huge difference going from stock to stage 1 (N26). I installed the Stage 2 and selected map 2 and haven't really noticed much. I will have to hook back up and make sure its running map 2. Ill do that once I get home from work. Busy dealing with an M3 needing a valve spring at low mileage :/
