Im hoping someone can hep me with my issues on my 2013 F30
Im getting code
164040 intake camshaft installation faulty
164041 exhaust camshaft installation faulty
I replaced timing chain and guide and cam phaser ( central valve still original) used timing tool to align everything and this my 10th timing chain and guide replacement so im pretty sure everything is lined up.
upon checking on live data the position of the vanos intake and exhaust it stays 0.00 kw, once i get the drivetrain malfunction in about 3-4 sec then thats the only time i will get reading from vanos position 0.65 to 0.56 KW
DME software has been update using autel maxisys elite
i replaced DME, crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor.
checked harness for continuity no broken or open wires.
when i clear the fault with ignition on and start the car i don't get any fault codes. but once i turn off the ignition and start it then it will give me the 164040 164041
i do have another F30 that i checked the vanos position reading and it give reading right after it started engine with no delay
on position reading.

Hi did you ever solve this problem I'm having the same problem with my S55 I've replaced both vanos sprockets and crank hub I had to reset adaptations due to replacing injectors and it will not realearn
