Question Wastegate position sensor signal short to B+ [123701]

Hello guys, I am currently experiencing a weird error on my F36, B48 car (no mods).
I am getting this error: Electric wastegate valve, position sensor, signal: Short circuit to B+ (123701).
Fault monitoring conditions:
The fault is detected if the sensor voltage is above the limit value.
- Limit value: 4,9 V

This actuator has 5 pins. I have tested the wires from this actuator to the DME controller for short and connectivity, and no issues observed there.

Also replaced the actuator with a new one, cleared errors, but the error still comes up as active on ignition on. (=> cannot adjust linkage length)

The same error also comes with actuator disconnected (connector unplugged)! (=> actuator is not the issue? )

Here is the pinout:
1: PWM
2: 5V supply
3: GND
4: Rotor position signal
5: PWM

Pin 4 is input for the DME. All other pins are outputs from DME.

If I understand correctly, the issue is related to pin 4.

I used an osciloscope to monitor these signals on the connector from DME to the actuator. Getting 5v supply.
Pin 4:

- peak to peak: 1v.

Pin 5:

-peak to peak: 5v

These are outputs from pin 4 and pin 5 in the same view:

1. Is it normal to see this signal on pin 4 (input), when connector is in the air?
2. Why do the 2 singals have the same period?
3. Why does the error get recorded? The observed voltage on the input pin with osciloscope is below 1v. The dtc conditions state that it is triggered when there is over 4.9v detected on it.
4. How can I troubleshoot this further?

Thanks!

Waste gate position sensor: short circuit b+

Had same faults with a 2017 750i , try a wastegate position relearn , seemed to work for mine

Wastegate position sensor signal short to B+ [123701]

Have you had any luck tracking this down? I too have having the exact same issue, new actuator, good wires from plug to the DME...

THanks

It won't allow you to run a position relearn due to the presence of the fault on power up...

I have the same issue. Error codes 120408 and 123801
Managed to do reset of this and cleared all error messages. Come on when I start the engine
And the goes off again when I turn straight off and back on
Any ideas why to try?
New actuator, sensor?

I've got a wastegate actuator issue on my m550 N63. bank 2.
I was getting jammed messages intermittently, so I ordered a replacement on ebay.

Installed new actuator and it moved a bit on PAD mode. Now is making a high pitched whining sound. I installed the old one, and now it's making the same high pitch whine. The turbo is not currently screwed on to ensure it's not bound up.

ISTA shows 123704 Electrical wastegate valve 2, position sensor, signal: Short circuit to ground.

Anyone got any ideas on this? connections seem secure and no sight of corrosion.

I find it weird that my original actuator is also whining now. I never had that code until I installed the replacement unit.

Do you all think I should connect bank 1's actuator to the bank 2 connector just to eliminate? I'm worried that I may fry it if the DME is hosed.
