M Performance Exhaust drone on 435i
Hi guys,
Recently I went into BMW for some programming (battery low warning issue) on my 2014 435i xDrive. After the programming, it seems that certain settings were reset. The only way I knew, was that I when I turn my heated steering on, I have a message in my check control stating that "heated steering activated", also the radio remembers the volume level after shutting down and restarting. Besides the small adjustments, the most noticeable was the exhaust drone around 2000k in comfort and eco pro mode. The drone has become so loud that you can feel the vibrations in the seat. Is this normal for the MPE? When I first got the exhaust installed at the dealership, they said that programming was required. I told them to GTFO since it's just an exhaust. Now I am wondering if the tech changed some settings regarding the exhaust, which now has the valves opening or closing? I just want to see what everyone's thoughts are? Should I contact the dealership again and get them to look at it? Thanks, Stephen

I run the MPE on my car, and I unplugged the solenoid that closes the valve and I have absolutely zero drone. I am actually looking into getting a new exhaust because it is too quiet! Maybe the way the exhaust was installed has it touching somewhere where it is causing resonance where there is not any insulation to prevent such vibration? Idk just spitballing lol.

Your car was fine, the dealership worked on it, and now it's not right.
You need to bring it in and have someone (your service advisor or preferably a tech) ride with you so they can hear it. Don't let them tell you they'll test drive it to identify the problem. Drive it and POINT IT OUT to them. I've seen quite a few posts about problems where the dealer "couldn't replicate the issue."

made an appointment with BMW next week. Going to get them to look at it. If they can't find anything at least I have peace of mind.
