Really great tool.... thanks!
I was able to run this on my Windows 8 system and was poking around to see what it could do. I selected File->Offline mode and program immediately crashed. From that point forward , I could not start the application. I uninstalled, and re-installed and still no luck.
I searched around for leftover configuration (in files or registry) and found in folder
C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\BMW_Coding_Database\** *******Database.exe_Url_btajmppliulum3aji4oez1xsfb wzorpg\1.2.0.0
the file
user.config
which is a text based XML file.
I edited the file and changed

<setting name="OfflineMode" serializeAs="String">
<value>False</value>

from True to False

then I was able to launch the application again.

I am not sure I understand what Offline mode is intended to do, but it doesnt work on my setup. Hope this info is helpful in resolving the problem and for other users who may have got stuck in this unusable condition.

thanks again! great tool!

Thanks for this, I ran into the same issue with the current version of the database tool, running on Windows 7.

It seems that off-line mode is broken.

Can u try to delete the bmw coding database folder under appdata\local, then install using the latest installer from *********database.com. Run the application, and finish the initial setup. Click get data on f-series tab and e-series tab and close the application.

This should create the offline files under C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\ named Fseries.xml and Eseries.xml

Start the app again and try offline mode.

I uninstalled the app, removed the folder from appdata\local, and re-downloaded the app (version 1.2.1) and installed it. It wanted to update to 1.2.2 beta, which I did (I think the update said something like 1.3...).

Off-line mode is now working, I have pre-loaded E and F series codes.

The file names are a little different: Fserie.xml and Eserie.xml (they are missing the ending 's') and are stored in the root of C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Local, not in the *********Database directory.

Thanks!

Yeah it is indeed, Fserie and Eserie didn't had time to check it.

The reason I did this is so that you get the latest offline files, but you have indeed get the data on the first launch of the application.

Right, but shouldn't those files go into the *********Database folder and not the ApPData/Local root?

Yes, they will be in the next update. I will also supply default offline files for first startup to prevent any errors.

Why can I no longer open the coding database successfully and what can't I connect / check for updates? I am running v1.2.2...
Any help would be appreciated or a link to the updated version would be awesome
