iPhone X issues with iDrive?
Is anyone else experiencing issues with the new iPhone X? I'm not able to get music to play over USB or Bluetooth. I actually had the iDrive crash and reboot my first testing.

Haven't tested via Bluetooth yet but jacking into USB on my '14 F30 has been working fine similar to my 7 Plus. Tested both Apple Music and Spotify on iOS 11.1 from the 11.0.1 that the phone came with.

I just spent a few minutes trying out various combinations. I'm still without any playback. I tried to disable Bluetooth, rebooted phone, etc.. Now my car won't even see the iPhone over USB.
I can't figure out a way to reboot the iDrive (NEXT).. The old "hold the power button for 30 sec" doesn't work anymore. I tried to connect just over BT, and it shows it is connected on both the iDrive and my phone.. No audio. Audio is turned on in the options. Very weird. Too tired to connect the ENET cable and force an iDrive reboot. Will try again in the morning. |

Works perfectly fine on my 2016 M235i running on a retrofitted ID6 unit on CarPlay and on BMW iDrive. I haven't tried it on my 2013 320i xDrive with NBT though.

And connecting via bluetooth is choppy Spoke to the local BMW genius, they don't know what the issue is, guessing it could be that the car needs an update to support the new iPhone X. They don't have a timeline on how long it will take for BMW to create that update. I am going to try to see if my car is on the latest update. |

No problems with USB, including when using Spotify app. I'll try Bluetooth next time I'm behind the wheel.

I figured out that 11.2 beta 2 is causing the problem. I noticed my phone wasn't working in my wife's MDX over USB and Bluetooth. Her phone (a new X as well) was working fine. I tried her phone in the M3, and it worked fine. I backed my phone down to 11.1 and restored my backup. All was well. I'll be filing a bug report with Apple.
So be careful with the beta! Hopefully they will address this before 11.2 comes out! |

After iphoneX and beta 11.2, all my bluetooth devices are gone. In the last 4 years, this happened for the first time and I have been on beta for most of the time.
Not sure if this is because of beta or iPhoneX, but I had to start over. After sync with car, the calls/text messages are coming in nicely, bluetooth audio streaming from Amazon works nicely. |

I've got Bluetooth working without any issues... phone and audio... One thing that I did different on this phone due to the complexity between iPhone 6 (previous) and iPhone X (current) is instead of backing up my iPhone 6 and importing that into the new iPhone x - I started from scratch - updated to the new IOS11.1, then reset to factory default - and started setting it up... reinstalled all apps and most passwords were saved in my iTunes wallet... and since doing that, It's been working flawless - even the face ID has been pretty impressive...

F15 owner, but found this thread and am having the same issue.
I was able to pair and it began playing music just fine, but after a few minutes the music dropped out. Devices show they are still paired. I have not tried phone or Siri or anything else. Music output via CarPlay works just fine which also connects via Bluetooth. |

Mine has worked perfectly until this morning. I plugged the cable to the phone and it kept connected/disconnected for like 20 times. After that, iDrive went crazy, stopped recognizing music via USB, music via Bluetooth and worse, no backup camera haha. Only if there is a way to hard reset/reboot iDrive
When I started the car again after 1 hour, iDrive reset and it's working fine now. |

So.. I have a 2016 BMW M4 and didn't have a problem with my iphone 7plus, but now on the X, every day iDrive reboots several times on my ride into work.
very frustrating.

I had the same issue in my 440i 2017. I got the iPhone X last Friday and since that I can't see my entire music library on the screen or the Head up display like I used to see before. It is a bug in the IOS 11.2 beta version.
Since that my iDrive system keeps crashing every hour. Do you guys think its because of the iPhone ? |

Earlier this week, I put a bug report into Apple through my developer account. They got back to me on Wednesday as they would like log reporting done.
I've not had time to help them until the weekend. Not really sure I want to go through the hassle of reloading my phone again. That being said, if I can help this issue, I suppose it is worth the greater good. Hard to believe that there aren't BMW drivers among their iOS team to solve it for themselves. |

I went ahead and installed beta 3. It seems to be working on both USB and Bluetooth now. That being said, I'm not 100% feeling it is back to the behavior on 11.1. It has acted like it was struggling with switching between connections and playback ? but it never failed. Also, I had the Bluetooth not connect when I got back in the car, which was unusual. I re-paired and it has been fine. Nothing solid, but also not failing. I'll have to see how it goes over the next few days.
