Exactly. You can run the N20 exhaust on an N26 car but you will need an N20 downpipe. If you plan to stay OEM downpipe, then you are a little stuck waiting for an N26 specific exhaust.

You beat me to saying it sounds like a fart can lol... Some people were arguing whether it sounds like a n55 or not... I can hear it being somewhat similar to the n55, but it just doesn't have enough deep throatiness and burble like that of the n55.

I did think of that, but then I'd have to buy an N20 DP too. Of course I will if I have too, but I hope some one makes a specific system for my car. Do you have an N20 or 26? I guessed that all CA cars are N26s but that's just a guess....

Did you put an exhaust system on your F30?

Sounds like a 4 banger. Does not have that traditional smooth growl that the 6 cylinders have. Wonder when an exhaust will be out for the 335i.

I don't get it. Why get the 328 and then spend approximately $3000 - $3500 to upgrade the performance, when you could have just gone for the 335i? If you have an extra $3000 lying around for mods, you most likely could have just put it towards the 335 and financed the rest. And if you can afford one of these cars, the difference in mpg is not that significant.

+100!!! I was going to exactly write this. If you have money for mods, get the better car. It is like those people who go and buy a 1990 Civic and then install an exhaust, rims, etc to it. If you have money, buy the better car IMO.

Do you mean from Eisenmann specifically? Because the M Performance exhaust is already available for the 335.

I agree completely, but there are those out there that probably bought the 328 without knowing it lacked the grunt of the 335 and now want to add it. I know I will miss the sound of my 335, but overall I think I will be happier with the 328. Sounds crazy I'm sure, but with a kid on the way I think the 328 is a bit more practical.

Don't do it! How is it more practical? I just checked and both the 328i and 335i with the 8 speed auto both have the same mpg at 23/33.

Hey guys, you have to thinkg globally, the difference in Brazil for example between the 328i to 335i it's about USD55k, so the upgrade it's not expensive at all.

Bang for the buck...

There is a stage 1 tune out for $375. There is a downpipe out for under $400.

There is no stage 2 tune to take advantage of the downpipe.

Just those two mods for UNDER $1000 show 270whp/300+tq and net high 4's to 60 and 105mph traps speeds, so every bit as fast if not faster than the 335.

People spending money on the exhaust are doing it for sound, not to bridge the performance gap economically between the two cars.

I am actually getting a lower payment on the brand new F30 328 than I have now on my 2yo E90 335 and they are both fully loaded. Need to cut cost where I can- kids are expensive!

Seems like every thread I read there are 335i owners who try to bash or talk down the 328i. I understand what you are trying to say but your comparison to a civic is not accurate or fair. The 335i does have more performance and sound but there are several attributes of the 328i that some people may prefer (MPG, insurance, handling). 90% of the people that bought a 328i could have squeezed the extra $3-5K to get a 335i if they wanted, but they chose not to for one reason or another. Don't get me wrong, I like the 335i, but it is old news to me and until its replacement comes out, I wanted the newer BMW engine.

Plus, some people just like to personalize their cars. I'm sure there will be plenty of 335i owners who will upgrade their exhausts as well.
