I had the same with my renewal it's pretty standard, I just rang up and very politely asked to speak to a manager then said there is clearly a mistake with my renewal quote as the car is now worth less and I have another years driving experience, he took it down to £10 less than last years figure straight away.

Tried that made little difference. Must admit didn't ask to speak to a manager.

We all know there is no loyalty with insurance companies. A new customer will often get a better deal than an existing customer so I would shop around.

It's no wonder there is no loyalty when they pull stunts like this!!! Worse than the Stealers...

The problem these days is that the cost of repairs and/or the vehicle is now becoming pretty immaterial due to personal injury claims.

Big company as well; not sure why I expected anything less tho. Yes will definitely be shopping around. Customer service advisor blamed the 6% tax rise. I respectfully asked him about the other 31%!!?? No forthcoming reasons.
A weekend on web and phone is needed

My insurance renewal from BMW went from £350 to £640 no change in circumstances.
Gave them a call and could not reduce and they were apologetic to be fair.
Needless to say declined the renewal and are now with LV, better cover £280.
Like continuity with insurance but these renewal increases just force people to change every year and who can blame us.
Companies of all sorts seem obsessed with new business rather than loyalty and customer service.
Welcome to the 21st century I guess. As my dad says 'To many accountants and managers and not enough engineers'

Have been with Rias for three years now - five star Dafaqto rating, UK call centre and renewal last month was £30 down on last year!

Recommend a friend and you both get M&S vouchers too.

I'm not supporting any rise in premiums or justifying insurance companies in any way. However, people who say "no change in circumstances" don't understand risks and / or statistics. Insurance is all about risk and stats.
Look at the other side of the coin. You've had the car a year, it's a year older, your may be not a precious about it as it's no longer brand new, you are a year more familiar with it, perhaps driving a little less gingerly as your confidence has grown. Can you see how your risk and perium is rising?

That and those funts in Birmingham who have taken to carjacking and the massive number of bikes nicked in London...

Never heard such nonsense in my life, the much more obvious change in circumstance that should affect your premiums, is firstly your car is valued less, you should have an extra no years claim discount (granted these are capped at a certain level) and statistically if you've gone another year without any accidents your less likely to have another one.

We all know why they put them up, they know alot of people dont like the hassle of moving and it must work otherwise they wouldn't do it, unfortunately you have to move every year or get fleeced

I did a quote for a 66 plate 330d M Sport the other week, out of interest

The best price I could find on comparisons was almost double what I'm paying now, which I thought was ridiculous.

Thats with 9 years NCB, no points, 1 no-fault accident in 2014

Daylight ****ing robbery! Am paying £470 for fully comp cover for me and the wife on my F31 330D - with MPPK declared - for a Greater London address. Just got my renewal from Privilege and they want £632, with no explanation for the increase offered. I rang them up and told them I'd be moving away and they reduced it to £543 within a few minutes
Then checked with MoneySupermarket and the premiums have rocketed. WTF is going on?

That's pretty much along the lines of my renewal. I'm yet to get hold of chris knot yet; however Hastings direct appear to be pretty good price wise at the mo. However they've had a bit of bad press on here on another thread re mppk etc

I find insurance baffling.

When my 340 arrives (did I mention I've got a 340 coming ) I'll be going from a 3 year old 258 bhp 330d to a brand new 326 bhp 340i and my insurance will go down. Makes no sense to me but I'm not complaining!

Blame it on Barack Obama. That's what all the Trump supporters here in the USA do when their (health) insurance premiums go up.
