This will be this "minority of idiots" we keep mentioning. The same ones who rant the same crap about how a BMW has to be "sporty" and can't have ASS because it's not BMW and "I hate the environment" and blah blah blah. You know .. those people that give the USA a bad name around the world and portray your country as something it isn't.

Aye I'm sure you're right. You just seem to export yours Ours are called chavs but we don't let them leave the country and try not to talk about them much. We tend to keep them in sink estates (our ghettos) and not park our cars too close to them.

Ours is a bit different, these people are very well off. Most of them had their wealth handed to them, they never have to work a hard day in their life. Thats what happens when people have it too easy, they had everything handed to them. It creates a certain level of self entitlment and Elitistism.

I've tried stepping on and depressing the brakes almost as hard as I can, but in regards to the earlier post in this forum re: AC, makes a lot of sense why it's still restarting on its own so quickly.....
Open your EfficientDynamics display and it will show you why your engine restarted.

Well every ad we watch or read in the media will have the consumer believe that BMW is a luxury machine so I think it is completely fair that if the car includes faults and or mechanisms that are perceived to be gimmicks by the consumer that plunks down 50 or 150 or whevr can use the luxury label used by bmw itself.

the perfect example of two progressive elitist socialists knocking those that dont share their opinions. Especially at the disgruntled brits who bunche an entire population "across the pond" cause one of them has a differing opinion to yours and then calling the guy whose opinion is deemed wrong a "twat" and an "idiot".

They can't debate the point with a convincing argument (you should see the pwnage in the other ASS thread) so instead they start the personal attacks on an entire country.

LOLZ.

The environment doesn't need the help of wealthy BMW owners as we already live a responsible lifestyle. ASS belongs on Kia's and Ford's, it's those people who pollute. Put it on trucks, put it on trains. It doesn't make a difference on a $50,000 German luxury car.

Wow you two are quite funny together But I do ask you to properly before you jump to conclusions and spout shit against straw-men rather than reality. I have been very, very specific in everything I've written NOT to talk about an entire country but expressly said that I'm talking about a minority; a sentiment echoed by many of your fellow countrymen who are no doubt ashamed to be associated with you.

And giorgioarmarni (lol @ your progressive elitist name btw), you call me a socialist again and you and I are going to have words. You just show off your own narrow-minded view of the world and kinda prove that you belong to this "minority2 of Americans of which we speak by saying that anyone who disagrees with you is a socialist

Seriously ... that's lame.

And I have never voted for a socialist party in my life. And never will. we are diametric opposites, socialists and I.

And BJ - you get funnier and funnier. Pwned in the ASS threads. Man, you should learn to read

Dont you think you are the elitist if you think you are better than everyone else just because you drive an entry level BMW?
If you refer to people who is socially responsible as socialists, then yes I am a socialists.
We all have difference opinions here in this forum, but some of them are just well too extreme to be accepted as norm.

Something interesting. I have a friend who works for BMW USA....I asked his opinion on the 14k oil changes...as I'm old school. I cannot wrap my mind around the idea that this is really safe for a car beyond 100k miles.

His statement was that BMW does these long intervals for environmental reasons. THey've tested the oil they use, and they've found that its maximum lifespan is usually around 14k miles. so they do the changes @ that interval...as to minimize the amount of waste oil.

Disclaimer:
This could be smoke and mirrors, but I did find it interesting. I'm not claiming this to be 100% fact, so don't argue with me on it. if you think I'm full of shyte, then move on. I just found it interesting and thought a few others may as well.

And when I got there, I thought maybe I'd just drive across Greenbow County. And I figured, since I driven this far, maybe I'd just drive across the great state of Alabama. And that's what I did. I drove clear across Alabama. For no particular reason I just kept on going. I drove clear to the ocean. And when I got there, I figured, since I'd gone this far, I might as well turn around, just keep on going. When I got to another ocean, I figured, since I'd gone this far, I might as well just turn back, keep right on going."

The thread is so far off-topic... it's just sad at this point.

What's "entry level" about an F30?

Moderately configured its a $45,000 to $50,000 car. There are 5 Series that cost less, X3, and the 1 Series too. It's 2012, not 2006.

The average American household makes $47,000 a year can't afford a $600/mo car. That's who the $149 Kia is for.

In trying to paint someone else as an elitist you come across as one yourself.

shit mine was 56k. But I also saw a 90k sticker on a 7 series, and then a 135k sticker on a M6 vert. The 3 series WAS BMW's entry level car. now the 1 series is....not that it matters, as your post did come off as rather arrogant and "elitist". Which just so happens to be my word of the day!

But in all seriousness, do you even read the things you write? 50k car....luxury...it IS entry level. Arrogance drips off your posts, and your "BMW Platinum Visa".

Absolutely without a doubt the funniest thing I've read on this forum in quite some time. And yes it's funny because it's true.

Yup, My decision on this last purchase was a 56k Ford Raptor, and a 56k M sport 335i....I guess it's obvious which direction I went.

One thing that to me goes without saying; just because I can afford a 56k car without trouble doesn't make me a better person than someone who can't, or a person who chose not to. Thinking the car you drive makes you special, this is disgusting to me.

Yes it does.

It's embarrassing to watch you try to deny it. We aren't at Church, no need to be polite. My wife and I clear $700K a year before bonus. You?

I did an experiment. I have avoided the feature like the plaque after experiencing it just once. So I put it on and insisted not turning it off until I reached my destination.

It turns off quite cleanly, not startling. I find it's much better with the manual since if I anticipate the light will change soon or some other instance where I want to intervene, I just press in the clutch to block the engine from shutting off.

However. Due to so much vibration from the shift lever(mainly an N20 issue) and the fact that I am always at the ready with my hand placed just so, the re-start is startlingly violent. If BMW can improve on that one aspect(also all the mounts may further break in which would transmit less vibration) I think in the manual at least it would be successful and I would use it more often.

At last, back on topic, I normally switch it off as the vibration is annoying, but its a pain that you have to make the effort to switch it off every time you get in the car, like having to switch the auto wipers on, why there isn't a permanent setting within the idrive.
