Locking wheel nut

Hi I need to buy a new key as mine has become slightly rounded off - how do you find out what number you need?

Main dealers should have a record of it on system.
I bought a spare from a different dealer that supplied car and they could look it up.

Dealers should have the correct one in stock, there’s only 20 different ones:

Quite worrying you can buy a complete set on EBay!!

Any more secure brands out there?

The dealer will have a case with all the different keys in. Just a case of seeing which one fits yours.

Thats what they did with mine, they keep on going until they find the correct one.

I knackered both the locking wheel nut key and one of the actual wheel nuts. Had to buy a new set - c£60 ish.

I bought a set of Mcgard branded locking bolts (same maker of the BMW ones) which means there’s hundreds of different combinations instead of just 20.

Went down to BMW Williams Manchester "it might take a month to arrive but its key number X".

Go onto EBay and purchased one arriving tomorrow.

BMW supply chain at its best

I had the same issue two weeks ago and completely ditched the locking wheel nuts as I find them a pain switching between summer and winter wheels. The likelihood is that it will just need replacing again and again as its a known problem. I honestly do not think that anyone would Nick your wheels as it would be far quicker just to steal the car this day and age!
