I've got new rdc valves (new system) from Lorcan for my wheels so I can leave the others on the current wheels. Do you have to do anything to sync the new ones to the car?

I suspect you will need to initialise them the first time you drive. It takes about 5 min of driving to set them. I'll find out tonight!

Just reset tyre pressure monitor on idrive before you set off and the new sensors are automatically picked up. What pressure you going to use?

What pressures are people using in their winter tyres?

According to the card, as far as I can see, it should be 2.8 Bar front, 2.6 Bar back but after doing that, it felt like car was riding on flintstone wheels. (Normally on 19 inch 403m and have adaptive drive)
.
Evan, what car do you have? An F30 what?
The reason I ask is my door sticker for my 335xd F31 has markedly different tyre & pressure info on it (note the first entry on my car that only has 225/45/18 95V XL M&S - and lower pressures

I dropped front pressures to 2.6 but was hoping ride comfort wouldn't be worse moving to nonRFTs and smaller alloy size.

I'm going to have balance of all the wheels checked tomorrow just in case it's that.
I've got similar pressures in my door card. F30 330d sDrive.

I'm running a square run flat setup, F 2.8 and R 3.0 as advised for 225/45/RF18 (*) XL in the door card.

Your tyres aren't listed, go flats and staggered rears etc.

However, it seems M&S tyres want more air. About 0.2 bar by interpreting the card. However, I've no idea of the starting point for go flat tyres

Can anyone recommend the pressures for 225/45/18 non-RFT winters?

I thought so... there seems to be quite a difference between recommended pressures on the F30 and F31 335d’s then...

Different pressures again on 420D 2.2F 2.6R for winters 225/45/18 if Im reading it correctly. You have to be aware of the small symbols shown against the tyre sizes and car diagrams on the door sticker.

Anyway, back to the original subject, it now looks like it'll be a lot warmer next week! So, to put winters on or not? :

don't be paranoid about temperature. I drove my car in the winter (March) in Germany on winter tyres and it was 25C. and nothing happened. If you want to go on track day and play with your tyres changing them over back and forth every time the temp drops down below 7 and when it is over 10 it is up to you. The fact is the calendar winter is coming and I have changed them and the next 5 months I'm going to drive on winter tyres.

Plus the daytime figures may be higher but on my drive to work and back again the temps are currently about 8 degrees, possibly cooler.

^^^^ This.
just pick a dry day and put them on - they don't / won't fall apart above 7c - and how many miles will you do this week or next week? even if you do say 400, you might get 16-20k from the winters, so this is something like 2-2.5% of the tyre lifespan....

unless, as Piono said, tou plan to swap them each morning depending on the weather...

I didn't even bother changing my wife's 120D winter tyres off from last year - she only does about 5k PA at the moment and they are absolutely fine
