Just picked up on this thread. Would be very tempting if I didn't have a new car sitting at the port waiting to come over. Oh well next time maybe. What I do wonder though is what the insurance would be with the completion pack?

I tested an M4 last week, an hour on manly rural roads and a bit of duel carriageway. Enjoyed the test, got a bit of a surprise when I floored it for an overtake and tail wiggled a bit, I enjoyed the ability to alter steering, engine and box independently. The mid range acceleration was great but not that much better. It was fun but not that much more fun than my current car, whilst enjoyable it wasn't enough to make me change.
A great car but not that much more great than my 335D

Yes and they are just one dealer in a big network. If Cooper C can do it then other dealers can do it My post did refer to BMW AG as a company chasing the volume and not TRL or CC, they are just reacting to the demands of the business and see an opportunity to gain business through the forums. Good for them I say

I think if you feel that to be the case, you therefore have the right car for you and I wouldn't consider changing. Afraid I don't agree at all - there is a huge difference between the two cars. But such is the rich tapestry of life that we all have different perceptions. You've thankfully saved yourself a lot of money by not wanting to change. I almost wish I had the same opinion as you - would have made my life a lot cheaper!

And so the million dollar question - trade in on your car Andy. Will be very interested to hear what comes back. I feel that any 335d trade in will hurt (as they are still under 3 yrs old) - unless you've put in big deposit, you'll eat into that M3 discount.

Well I have the wife on board although she things the exhaust might sound "too chavvy".

I think its the usual swings and roundabouts Guy..... you get a great trade in, but not so much of a discount or a great discount and crap trade in (potentially!). The only winner here is the dealer (unless you VT your car - mine is about 8 months off that).

I'm sure in a years time these kind of deals will be the norm, as the current F series model nears the end of its life, just like what happened to the E90/E92 M3.
Just some of us cant wait.

Will report back what he says tomorrow.....

Interesting point, I've just been on Direct Line and you cant select an M3 Competition pack model. You can only select an M3.
Just imagine trying to ring up and describing the competition pack.........

I just sent through my car order to my broker and said 'this is what it is'! Said he'd do same as M3 but list differences as manufacturer changes.

I didn't get £10k off - I got nearer £6k. But I got a massively good trade in and as you say, it's the whole deal that matters. I've watched what people on here have been quoted for trade in with younger cars with less mileage and I am way above those figures (would have about £7k neg equity if was). Fact is these cars depreciate like stones.

Best of luck Andy - look forward to hearing how you get on.

Situation I am in - what can he do though? Surely all he can do is reduce discount on new car, which no longer makes it the deal posted?

Realistically people like TRL are unlikely to be able to offer huge discounts on new cars and fantastic part exchanges as well so, while it's potentially a bit more hassle, guess you could look at selling your existing cars privately? I realise a lot of buyers at that sort of value want the piece of mind that comes with buying from a dealer but if your cars still have some manufacturer warranty left and are in good condition with FBMWSH in reality a dealer isn't offering much more apart from finance facilities (which are rubbish on AUC's anyway!). Therefore, could be worth putting an ad on here and/or Pistonheads if the part-exchange offers are really poor; worst case is you end-up part-exchanging anyway but if that happens all you've lost is the relatively small cost of the adverts. Sold my E92 335i via Pistonheads back in mid-2014 and got around £2k more than the dealer was offering as a part-ex.....
