Now then ladies, I really don't want to get into an argument over something so pathetic - I was merely suggesting the statement 'feeling pretty uninspired by the whole thing' could be attributed to how I felt....

Yes I bought a used car, yes I wont do that again but you live and you learn

Let's leave it there shall we?

Minor update from today's Genius chat:

The general too'ing & fro'ing of build dates is in full swing as, according to Genius, my 340i is now due to start production in week 30 (only 3 weeks away ) with delivery during week 33.

Hoping to see status 1200 soon

Yes I am!!!

Delivery is penned for week 33, so it'll be close to 6 months from order to delivery. I feel like I've earned the car after that wait!

Now just need to start thinking about things like:
- Getting rid of my Merc
- Getting detailer organised
- Private plate
- Insurance
- GAP
- Carbon mirrors caps (maybe...)

How long is it from status 1200 till 5000? A couple of weeks?

I saw your post about your creaking door seals. I have plans to address that issue as it'll drive me mad!

So yesterday Genius came back that my status had reneged to 1100...erm, WTF! Build and delivery dates slipped by 8 weeks (now late Sept build and early/mid Oct delivery....all from a February order!).

I spoke with my dealer today who confirmed that it was accurate. Apparently it's the Individual Leather Dash that's holding it up. If I were to drop the leather dash then I could have my car wk 33 (mid August) as given when I was at status 1200.

Well I've said no, I'm not going without what I ordered. I've also stated that they need to speak to whoever can make the mid August date happen, as that's what I want. My (leased) current car goes back on the 1st Sept, so this new date would leave me car-less for 6 weeks!

This is turning into a bit of an endurance event! (20 weeks and 1 day since ordering...and counting).

I hope you can get this sorted mate, it's certainly quite the saga now.

With some luck you'll get back to 1200.

What a real bummer

Leather dash delayed mine but nowhere as long as this.

Damn...now you're only built 1 week before me, race is on! I wonder what's delaying yours, odd to go 1200 1100 1200 1100!!

That is getting just ridiculous now.

It is good to see you appear fairly chilled about something you really have little control over. No point getting stressed!

Now is the time to really lean on your dealer and extract firm guarantees of your new car by 1st Sept or a decent loaner plus some kind of compensation for being messed about if delayed any further.

My car including Individual dash was ordered on March 7th with delivery estimated for 1st June. This has slipped to 20th July for delivery which should happen now given the car is in the UK awaiting transfer to the dealer.

I don't see the reason for orders being pushed backwards and forwards to the extent yours has. Very unsatisfactory all round and takes the shine off what should be a pleasant experience.

Thinking positive thoughts for you.

Thanks All

I will await to see what the dealer comes back with this week. As you say, a loan car until mine arrives is a must and I will also be looking for a gesture of goodwill towards either an MPE or MPPK.

@ Apollocs (Justin?) - thanks for the info re your order. Useful ammunition

I had exactly the same problem with the leather dash and ended up waiting for 6 months. You have done the right thing by not giving up on it as it really lifts the interior. There is nothing anyone can do to bring you order forward. After 2 months of complaining to BMW UK, they didn't even respond back to me. In the end the dealer looked after me by making a small contribution to the finance deal and honoured the original price offered for my p/x car.

Just hang in there.
