The direct system (which measures tyre pressures with a sensor on the inside of the tyre) is surely a more expensive option for BMW. However, it is a legal requirement in the USA and has been for a number of years - if you google "Firestone TPMS" you will understand why.
Beru makes the TPMS sensors and you can buy a set for around £170 - http://www.bavarianx.com/BMW_TPMS_Ti...w3-r17-kit.htm I think the US regulators decided it was a superior system (as opposed to the indirect rotational monitoring) because it picks up an instantaneous loss of tyre pressure. |

Hi all,
I'm a newbie to the site so any advise is appreciated. I've read a lot of the threads and am even more confused now. I've just bought a UK 320d sport with business media on a 62 plate registered September but I've not seen the vehicle yet. If i cant make voice activated phone calls etc with my vehicle which I think is what I'm reading.!! What upgrade or mod would someone recommend? Thanks in advance |

I don;t think there's much you can do with the business nav without retrofitting a combox which I suspect isn't a particularly easy or inexpensive task. The easiest way is to probably add a third party BT kit such as a Parrot CK3100 that supports voice dialing. Or if your phone supports it just use the built-in voice commands (such as iOS's Siri).

Gutted!
I was hoping the BMW £400 optional extra for USB enhanced bluetooth audio could be retro fitted. I don't understand how the 2012 £1500 business media price tag warrants a non voice activated basic sat nav.. |

Just come across this about business media and it comes with enhanced bluetooth when it was the £1500 upgrade.
See below..... Any comments please... Thanks Post subject: Re: Business Media? Professional Media? Connected? Do both systems have "traffic data" ability or only Pro? -Pro only for RTTI if the website is to be believed. Pro: Navigation system, BMW Professional Multimedia, including enhanced Bluetooth telephone functionality with USB interface, instrument panel with extended functionality, BMW Professional radio with DVD drive, iDrive Controller, functional bookmarks, integrated hard disc with 12GB of memory for maps and audio data, Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI) in conjunction with BMW Assist, built-in 8.8" colour display showing 3D maps and bird’s eye view. Business: Navigation system, BMW Business Advanced, including enhanced Bluetooth telephone functionality with USB interface, BMW Professional radio, CD drive, iDrive Controller, functional bookmarks, built-in 6.5" display with split-screen function. What about BMW Apps? Do I need this to get extra functions and what does it offer me? Is it compatible with both systems? -At this moment in time its pretty crap, it allows certain apps running on your Iphone to display info on the IDrive screen (Web radio for example..) and the ability to use the internet via the IDrive knob. not for the 1 series, but this info is still pretty useful: http://www.techradar.com/news/car-tech/ ... de-1085113 ETA: if you are going to pick a Nav option the Pro Nav is the right choice IMO. |

For some options, the hardware is there but the car software needs to be modified into thinking that the option was part of the vehicle order for it to be enabled. |

Coding 6NS - Peterborough area
Hi All,
I have just collected a 330d M Sport with pro nav and like many didn't order the enhanced BT (6NS) as my dealer told me all it provided was the cradle connection, signal amp etc. Imagine my disappointment that I cannot stream BT audio or use the office functions. Anyway I found this thread and have tried to download E-SYS but just ended up crashing my PC and filling it with viruses and bloatware. I am sure this is easy to do, but as I cannot get a copy of E-SYS I am a little stuck. I have also tried a number of local specialists and coders, but all advise that Autologic and other commercial packages cannot make this change. Thus, can anyone provide me with further guidance, ideas of a garage in the Peterborough area who could do this, or better still is there a local member who could do this for me (I would be happy to pay). Thx. |

Contact Shawnsheridan on here via PM or via the coding section.
Buy a BMW coding cable on Ebay. Shawn will give you links to e-sys and be prepared to spend the weekend downloading it and the data file, you can use the abbreviated data file btw you don't need the full fat download. Get a laptop and install the software and data file then try connecting to the car. Read the instructions. Ignore the testing bit with the seperate app it doesn't work, just connect to the car direct through the cable and e-sys. Make sure you connect with the right car type as described in the instructions. If you can connect and it displays the VIN no you are good to go. Get WiFi out to the car. If you've got WiFi in the house but not in the driveway, buy a WiFi expander from PC World. Check the connectivity works sitting in your car. Then ask Shawn very nicely and he might do a remote coding session for you and setup the car. I'd suggest considering a donation to his hosting company to say thanks. Otherwise, find a coder in the UK and get them to come and code the car for you. EDIT: to make it easier to download the files in batch mode, get a plugin for example for firefox like DownThemAll! which will let you queue download the files. |
