Sounds like you need to insist on 18" wheels by pointing them to BMW's own recommendations that 17" are not suitable.

Hi Tripple777
I've been in contact with the same guy...looking at getting the bridgestones and he is really helpful. Could I trouble you with a few quick questions. Did the wheels come fully balances etc? Did they come from the uk or is it an overseas seller? Did you purchase fully outside ebay? Cheers |

Would these wheels fit an F31 with performance brakes?

I doubt those wheels will be the right offset, they are aimed at a 5 Series it seems which runs very different offsets to a 3 Series.

If you need 225/45/R18 RFTs, get the Continental TS830P tyres. They are rated one of the best winter tyres and £40 or so cheaper each tyre than Bridgestone's equivalent.

I think he gets them from Poland & has them shipped to the UK. I am sure Mike said they come balanced & ready to fit, but I've not actually seen them personally as i'm out of the UK on a business trip, so had them delivered to my Brothers address and he checked them over. Yes, i did the deal directly with Mike & paid via Paypal for protection. Hope that helps, he offers a great price & service can't go wrong IMO

Measure the discs/calipers with a piece of string and see rather than trying. But there must be a reason why BMW only offer the 18s if you have the M-Sport brakes.
It's a bad mistake by the dealer because I have even seen their Winter Wheel + Tyre printout sheet and it's very clear. |

I haven't got the winters yet - only picked up the car last week and the winters are in their storage.
I'll find out when it gets colder and they try and put them on! See if I can get some new 18's in exchange for the ex-demo 17's that were used as the deal-maker. |

I would raise it with your dealer now.
Winters shouldn't go on until end of Oct (unless there is a real cold spell). So you won't know for a month or so, but even if they do just fit - I wouldn't try them. I think there is a real reason for BMW saying 18s only. |

If specification is 18" then what is the warrant issue with fitting 17'. Have them verify now to be safe.

I bought the same set as Tripple777 but with the Michelin Alpin PA3. Fitted and balanced for 1300 which is a great price.
Was a bit wary buying off ebay but the seller (same as Tripple777 used) was very good. Delivered as per schedule and wrapped very well. Just need the car to arrive....2 weeks time but won't get for 4 as I'm on holiday when it arrives! |
