Colour of paint on BMW alloy wheels
Does anyone know how I could find out what colour BMW alloy wheels are painted?
For example my wife has a 1 - series Sport Plus Edition coupe which has the 18" M light alloy Double-spoke style 313M alloys with the machined polished spokes and centre and outer rim but a kind of grey/silver colour inside the spokes and between them. I want to be able to deal with minor stone chips myself but need to know what the colour is to match. The wheels are made by "Speedline" for BMW so I may try and ask them and see if they are forthcoming with any information but just thought I'd put this out there to see if anyone knew? |

Thank you both for your information, I shall check out Ferric Grey to see how good a match it is. I was thinking about having a word with my local BMW Approved Bodyshop seeing as they are supposed to do these so called SMART repairs these days.....any thoughts?
Also have a new 4 series on order and have specced the 19" M Double-spoke style 442 M alloys......are these Ferric Grey coloured bits as well.....anyone know.......never seen the car yet.....built but not yet arrived! |

The general silver on BMW alloys is "Reflex Silver" (Colour Code: A44/BMW WA44 MET). A lot of dealers actually spray the alloys with Titanium Silver as it's a cheaper paint.
The grey on the latest alloys is "Ferric Grey II" (Colour Code: B55 MET/BMW WB55 MET). It's more expensive and I don't think you can get proper touch up pens in that colour at the moment. I saw somewhere it costs x2-x3 as a normal paint so you normally have to pay a bit extra when getting your alloys refurbed in that colour. |

@bmnut: Did you find out the color code for the 442 M wheels? Is it the "Ferric Grey" (A80) or is it "Ferric Grey 2" (B55)?
Got a slight curb rash and might want fixing |

Ok - thanks for the advice guys..
Took some closeups (attached). It is not visible from a distance. But up-close - definitely. Sent the same pics to a local workshop and they said they can polish fix it (no touch up). Guess I'll get it done there. I will mention about the lacquer just in case |

There is also another colour. I was speaking to my dealer and he mentioned the colour used on the painted wheels now. It wasnt Ferric but I will check again.

The 442 M alloys supplied as part of the M Sport Package now are Orbit Grey according to the configurator. Prefer the plain silver myself but hey ho
