Not sure that's a mark 7 golf r and the F30 looks lowered to me?

That said I do prefer the looks the BMW but it's not exactly a stunner in the grand scheme of things

  2. Did the Golf generally keep pace but drop back each gearchange?
  3. What type of launch was done on the Golf?
  4. When doing the rolling starts, was the Golf in the right gear to start with and the 335d in D?

Thanks
No the 335 was not in LC. My friend just put his foot on the accelerator and brake then released the brake. The golf was revving at over 4k and then I just released the clutch.
The golf just didnt keep up from the start and due to it having a lower speed was not keeping up.
The golf was in the right gear so was sitting at around 4k revs but the 335d was in drive. Only when he used the paddles gears thats the 335 was quicker than the golf. This was tested 3 times in both scenerios

That is a Mk 7 golf r but the UK has different wheels. If you look at you tube some cars so have those alloys. THat BMW looks nothing like mine! Look how low it is.

Oh and i found the golf r less forgiving over bumps in sport mode.

Actually zooming in, it looks pretty much like that BMW would be undriveable real world roads.

@badders74:

Home at last. Been driving my fabulous F30 in sport mode all day. Hit --- mph! Shocking!

Bloody marvellous. It is so smooth in sport mode. But it is a big mother and nowhere as manoeuvrable as a 7R. Not in a month of Sundays.

The 7R with DSG will eat my F30 for breakfast on the twisty bits and even more so on the straights. This is a given. The ride in comfort is quite amazing but with excellent handling. Very flat in whichever mode. It is pretty mental in Track mode.

They are both excellent cars but the 7R has a more jewel like interior and I love the four massive exhausts. So brutal.

I have made the right choice for 'me' and got a cracking deal.

I went to Vehicle Savers. Am an old returning customer, got them a few more, so negotiated like mad.

People are going bananas with the lease deals. Will be pulled soon as it can't go on.

The 7R is quite a racer. Once you try one you are addicted. It is quite mental when it needs to be and so sedate when it is required. Love it to bits.
Just my kind of car. Small, extremely fast and exceptionally manoeuvrable.
Brilliant.

I dont know if the golf r will eat your 330d for breakfast. The 335d is a little quicker than the R when your in the right gear but if you do not use the paddle then it will struggle. Not sure if anyone else has noticed that when you sit in sport it sits around 2.5k but if you put the accelerator to the floor for a split second it sits at 4k for about 5 seconds ready to go! Anyway youn wont be disappointed with the R.

looks great, blue is a nice deep colour and I recall both the alloy options were lovely on the VW. Heard bad things about VW group diamond cut wheels though.

Interior on the R for me felt like it wouldn't age too well from a quality perspective, it had plenty of stuff going on though. Great package for the price really and quite the performer. Over on the 2 series thread there was a test in the wet vs an M235i and the 4WD R smashed it really.

Those 4 oval exhaust pipes look completely ridiculous to me. Apart from that looks like a good Q car.

Your 335d looks nice

I am sorry you are so wrong about this. The look truly fabulous. The pathetic twin pipes on the 330d/335d are an embarrassment.

Haha! That is your opinion and that is his opinion. No-one is right or wrong it's just a matter of personal taste.

I wish they have the spaced exhausts as on the 335i.

Anyway, our 2nd F30 has been badly damaged just now in a London Car Park. The driver's side has been smashed (front wing and driver's door) and the driver's door is difficult to open. It was going in next week for the rear bumper to be replaced. Now it is an even bigger job. No note left. Bastards. We are checking whether they have CCTV.

Also grumpy tonight, just got insurance renewal in - doubled. After a no-fault claim where somebody drove into my parked car.

Sorry to hear that. You'll be on first name terms with your dealer.

So even when you get the Golf, you won't be done with your BMW dealership as you have the other 330d?
