Sad to say but it's a direct result of the carbon fiber. I just traded in my F80 (for a 440i) which had the CF rear diffuser and it most certainly disables the trunk kick feature. I thought sure something was awry when I first got the car until I researched the subject only to learn that I had sacrificed that feature by having that part.

The cf diffuser I just had installed on my 2017 440 GC (ie as the OP, per the pic above) works PERFECTLY with the trunk kick feature. Perhaps it matters who installs it. Perhaps it matters where the cf part comes from. Perhaps both.
