STEP training BMW 4 series
I called about a 435i for sale with 36 miles on it. While asking about the car and if it could be CPO'ed the BMW dealer stated that car cannot be CPO'ed. I said strange and asked why, apparently the car was a manufacture car used in the STEP BMW training program. What is scary I don't know if the car has been disassembled 1,000 times and what other training stuff has been done to the car. I was surprised to hear a BMW dealer was selling one of these cars.

Person already has over $25k of issues. Do not remember exact details but it sounds similar to this. 1) As much as I hate Carfax for it’s inaccuracies, get one on the car to see how it’s listed. I suspect it will say nothing about it. 2) Have Dealer print you out complete service records...god only knows what that will show. 3) Have a 3rd party mechanic go through it with a fine tooth comb. 4) If 1 and 2 are clean, see if you can purchase an EW from another provider from Dealership. If not them, a 3rd party which won’t know Car history. 5) Then and only then, price would have to be a SIGNIFICANT discount (NOT talking 10%) before you should even consider. Once you buy it, as shown from F80 thread, don’t expect any assistance from BMW. If BMW will not CPO, that ought to tell you something. Remember, unlike some other States, Florida does not have a lemon law for used cars, which might be why BMW is selling the car in Florida. EDIT: You have Orlando listed as your location, but car appears to be at Georgia Dealer. Like Florida, Georgia has no used car Lemon Law. Last edited by IK6SPEED; 03-28-2018 at 10:08 PM.. |

All good info, as I figured. I had one of my friends that works at a dealer look up any service history and shows zero on the BMW systems.

If nothing noted in Carfax or Service Records, residual isn’t an issue. This isn’t a salvage title.
If you get a great tech to spend a day going over everything and it’s ok, figure $4k+ FOR EW, dropping their “price” to around $30k to make up for no warranty as Blue Book they show have warranty. So if they let it go for $25k after tech says ok and EW, then go for it. |
