Everyone,

I have made a DIY video of my VRSF Catless Downpipe Install on my 2014 328xi. This also has a first impression review that talks about FAQs. Hopefully this is helpful to some folks who are looking to do this mod! Let me know if you have any questions!

ER copy, I could not say no to the price of under $100 shipped. Overall happy but one of the mounts for the tranny bracket was slightly off so I had to modify the bracket. And the cold start noise is awful, but otherwise happy. Been testing out Map 2 on the Jb4 and so far so good. However I may swap to a high flow catted version at some point if I can't get the engine light to stay off.

when did your CEL come on? I've done 75 miles since my install and it's still off

It comes on every 30 miles or so with a P013B code for 02 sensor too slow to adjust from rich to lean. I'm currently using a spacer. I ordered a spacer with a mini catalyst and hopefully that helps.

Thankfully I can clear the code while driving with the JB4 but it's still annoying.

Newer firmware of JB4 doesn't autoclear anymore, but I believe there is a way to revert the firmware or unlock the autoclear again. Otherwise, flash tune is your best route.

there's a guy on the 2 series forum who was able to restore passive delete for JB4 on PC and Android. not sure if he had a fix for iPhone.

I'm using the passive delete for Android, where it tricks your app to say you're in another country.

Are you using Android or iPhone for the JB4 app?

Yeah, there it is! I know he has posted in the forums on here before, but who knows where it lies. Hopefully, you can help them out!

Did you get any drone or vibrations from the downpipe? Just installed mine on my 228i and I'm not sure if I like it

No drone. little vibration, but not too bad. I wish they had the transmission brackets attached. I like the sound, and the ER DP sounds similar on a friend's car. Fitment was slightly off but I managed. Cold start is RIDICULOUS but I'll cut that out once I switch to bootmod3.

So here's an odd question. Mine is throwing codes, but no CEL pops up in the dash. I thought that was odd. It does detect the catless downpipe. I currently don't have my auto-clear workaround for the JB4 app, because I wanted to test the CEL. I read the codes, but there isn't a CEL that pops up.

What was your experience?

Do you think the lack of transmission bracket is the cause of the vibration?

absolutely, I do. I think the bracket really helped with stability. There's not really a lot to Rattle around down there. But it would make a difference in the vibration. what typically happens, is that from the turbo all the way to the first exhaust hanger, there is no anchor. And since that exhaust hanger is just a loose rubber nub, that is probably the vibration that you hear. at least that's my guess, unless the downpipe is clocked wrong and it's hitting against the sides.
