I'd have to agree here. Though, my 330d was an awesome all rounder. Also, hardly any difference in performance to my 340i below 60mph.

As if to prove this; driving home today I had an EB F30 behind me and a van in front; coming off a roundabout the road was clear so I kicked down past the van and the F30 followed surprisingly closely. Especially initially' maybe even closing... So, xDrive grip I thought... I didn't need to go too fast to get safely past so settled in at my usual cruising speed. The F30 followed all the way. So, 335d I thought.

A bit later on he filtered beside me at another roundabout and I spied 330d xDrive on the back... So, a 330d holds its own at legal speeds with ease.

The 30d is a real great all rounder, with great real world performance.

Perfect Infact!
I have held my own against some fine machinery. The kids at work are very impressed that my white diesel estate is as quick as a Porsche (older, shitty, non turbo ones)

The 30d lump is great and is what drew me to a bmw. Even if I did end up with a "proper" sport saloon engined version...

This should become the official 30d appreciation thread. The forgotten hero amongst the deluge of 35d/40i's

I've no idea how you got 48mpg fully laden, in extended stop-start traffic, and giving it the beans wherever possible.

Long time average mpg in my 330D is around 36, and that's across 35,000 miles, 80% motorway, 99% of the time just me in the car, although I do tend to cruise at somewhat higher than average speeds.

But makes up for the lack of torque with the noise (MPE compulsory) and being able to rev to 7.5k .

My long term average is 39mpg and on fast runs home from work on a mixture of normal roads, dual carriage ways and on motorways mine returns 45mpg...

I would agree it's a great all rounder. Only had a pleasure of driving a 330d for av week whilst the 530d was in having its bumper repaired. But I was mighty impressed by the power, economy and handling nicely packaged together. you can't fault it.
