Who knows insurance?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hey guys, last night I sent my car into a brackish water ditch. Not much cosmetic damage, think the right front suspension may have some issues but the battery and fuse box were completely under water as well as the back seat. I am wondering if insurance will call this a complete loss or what will happen. Brackish water is a salt/fresh water mix which I have been told ruins those electrical components. So those of you who do insurance tell me what you think.

Thanks
Tom

I dont work for insurance but I'd kiss it good by. If the rear seat were submerged, thats half the car under water. I wouldn't want electrical gremlins the rest of the cars life. sucks. At least you are ok.

ha you better let insurance sort this one out. you dont want a dead car on your hands with no claim! often i heard problems "creep" up with water+electrical you may not notice right away.

I've made a claim, I was just curious if anyone had experience in this. I am hoping this car is totaled honestly. The electrical nightmares that will come with this car after this issue will drive me insane.

Not only electrical but you'll never get the smell out. Sold an S5 vert recently after its roof leaked and flooded the rear floor. Had the interior foam and carpets replaced twice and it still stank after multiple times at the detailer.

Half of New Jersey in Hurricane Sandy. Most of the cars were totalled. They should have been scrapped but a lot of them made their way to the used car market, and now they're all falling apart.

Sad that happened, but good they didn't try to stick you with keeping it. Are you going to replace it with another Bimmer?

Yes I will be replacing this car with another BMW. I already have another car ordered pending the total goes well. The 335i was a lease so I assume I will be fine. Ordered car is an M3.
