RPM increasing when closing AC

Car’s idling at 500r then if I close it it goes to 1000rpm then goes back to 500rpm..
Is this normal? I’ve seen that it’s due to more « load » on the car! Is it true?

Thanks!!

If you turn on AC, there is more load on the engine because the AC compressor is driven by the accessory belt.

Sometimes when turning the AC off, the idle rises a bit because it no longer has to work as hard to maintain steady idle. It then settles back to normal idle RPM.
