Lol. Usually a "hand full" is very respectable, but give out as much as you want! One piece is kinda lame if you ask me.

That was actually a choice in the store. I can't believe they still make them!

Ha. Its always been that way in CA. When I was a kid 1985-1990 there was a lady giving out old textbooks (obviously a teacher) and then there was the lady giving out mini bibles (I wonder if they still make those?). One of my neighbors this year decided to staple all her candy (if you want to call Cliff bars candy) with little pamphlets telling kids the only thing they need to fear on Halloween is god and the sins that they have/will commit, i.e. fornication. I think I'd take some kale chips and some quinoa.

When I was growing up and going trick-or-treating in our suburban working class neighborhood where you knew everybody, my Mom would still tell us not to eat apples before she had a chance to check them for embedded razors. Like a) we would ever eat apples when had a bag full of candy, and b) like any of our neighbors would even do that.

One house would always give out double packs of Suzy Q's or Hostess Cupcakes. Everyone went there. Must have cost them a fortune. The house that gave out apples mostly got avoided.

Wait, you actually considered eating Apples on Halloween? All fruits given by people ended up on the street in my town.. I swear the worst job in the county would be a road sweep/cleaner in the tiny town of Fortuna Ca the day after Halloween... thanks to those giving out fruit instead of candy.

Never, which is why my mother's warning was so funny.

I always wondered just how you would get a razor in an apple? I'd be walking around the neighborhood (barefoot, in 10' snow, uphill both ways) tweaking from all the candy I already ate, thinking these things.

But until now, I never had a "safe place" to ask these questions.

THANK YOU, OT!! <snif, snif>
