Yep, planning on picking up an F31 when they're finally released in the US.

Replaced mine with Osram CBI's. They are 5000k with the illumination of a 4300k. Best bulbs on the market hands down. A pure wight light without any loss in visibility. Had them in my previous M3 and had to get them for my 335. They are absolutely

Install is super easy though it will be easier removing the wheel first. The E90 section here has some DIY's. It is the exact same minus getting to the bulb. On the F30 you simply pop off the plastic fender cover in the liner to gain access. Everything else is the same from then on.

Thanks for the info, I was able to access the fender cover and also the circular cover for the low beam. Just couldn't figure out how to release the clip holding the D1S bulb due to limited space (the clip seems quite a bit different when comparing to E90's). I guess removing the wheel is the way to go.

I'm about to try this on my F30. I salvaged the D1S Osram CBI's (my retrofit not standard) from my 2011 E87 LCI , a far superior whiter light.

The retaining socket on the E87 was a plastic type tag on the side of the bulb holder that you rotated counter clockwise to release the bulb. There was also these metal tabs that located around the square base of the bulb.

Is the arrangement the same on the F30?

Stay with stock. Yes 6k are coll and blend with led AE's but you will get in trouble at night with rain

ad78 - I'd agree with you on the 6k bulbs. I did try them and your eyes are just not good with light at that end of the spectrum in the dark and rainy conditions. Also, the more blue/white the bulb the less light output there is.

However, I have been using the Osram CBI's, rated at 5k, for over a year now. As m3 Guy has said they are fantastic. Same amount of light as stock and just enough white/blue light too.

Does anyone have pictures of the HID bulb socket?

Hi I'm interested in these osrams, r they much whiter than stock? And how do they match with the angels? I'm after just pure white, don't want blue, or at most a slight tint. Thanks!

Much better than stock if you want a whiter light. I upgraded my 1 series and they were great. I did try some 6k's in but there was a noticeable drop in light output but the light output of the CBI's are the same as stock.

I have a the set out my 1er but not got round to fitting them yet

Cheers. I may try out a set then. I used to have 5000k bulbs in my old GTI and miss the whiter light.

Although they were just some cheapo eBay xenon bulbs that I changed my oem bulbs for, I never had any problems with them.

I'm tempted to just buy the same ones but thought this time I should try better quality ones just in case

Imagine for a moment a multi billion car company that knows a bit more about headlight bulb temps than Joe X on ebay selling discount bulbs. Stick with factory.

I changed my 4300k bulbs to 6000k, bought the after market ones for $27, lifetime warranty on eBay. If you want to remove the bulb, you have to squeeze the clips and turn left to unlock.
