Really unacceptable for a part of the logistics chain to work under such a cloud of mystery.

One thing I read about the VPC setup is that they employ about 80 people in California. 80 people to process 400 or so cars a day, work on repairs, any HR and management folk that are there, etc... I don't think that HAVE anyone onsite doing communications with that few folk working there.

I would have waited the whole thing out if I had been happier with my 328 (I was really ready for it to be gone in February) or if my dealership hadn't magically had an alternative in stock (they had never had a car this close to the config I wanted before). As it is, my original car may show up next week, or it may not, but someone else will be buying it. I'm thrilled with the one I ended up with.

I don't know if I'll be willing to try this process again in three years if it doesn't improve, but I might as I doubt I'll be as tired of the 340 as I was the 328.

Yep, I agree. I'm not upset at the VPC either. If my dealership says they are going to call me Friday with an update, call me! Even if you have no update! It's good business and common sense. I almost feel like I'm living in the twilight zone.

The Twilight Zone or the dark, scary past when there wasn't a world-wide information and communication network that should be capable of keeping us well-updated (you know...around 1990).

Hopefully you are still interested in the BMW brand...
Totally agree. I'm holding out for this car, just because I want to see if they will move on the price at all. So far, none of my port installed options have been discounted so I know there is room to go. They are going to try and shift the blame on the port because it's "out of their control". I'll have to remind them that they represent the product and the brand.

What's more annoying is that I haven't been able to see if any other Munich-built 340i has been held as well. All other builds I've been have been SA.
They didn't discount any of the port installed accessories?

I'm not sure how they discounted everything, because it's about 5-6k off of sticker (58k). It just appeared to be full price on the price breakout sheet that I got.

Can you still see the status of your original car?

Wonder if the Dealer has info on delay yet to help OP.

Accessories are marked up significantly

Hopefully the car will be ready soon - has the dealership contacted the port ?

I can, and I called the automated phone thingy again yesterday for giggles. The status hasn't changed. It has said that it's "waiting for a shipping vessel" since the day AFTER it got off of the shipping vessel. Strange, strange robot status thingy. I'm not likely to wait through the hold times on the phone for further info, though.

I'm deeply happy with the car I ended up with, though. I didn't think I cared about getting wheels other than the standard 400M's, but I really, really love the way the 403's look. I also had no idea that the "Sapphire" in Black Sapphire Metallic meant that it would have a blue glimmer in the sunlight. Just stunning.

Mine was also first week in march. It is an issue with the fuel tank (I think everyone knows that by now)

mtx450 have you still not heard anything from the VPC? Wonder if they had the corrections into cars that were built after March

My CA has advised there should be an update with an ETA by this Friday. Not sure if that's accurate or not yet. Updates have been scarce from both BMWNA and the dealership at this point.

Just heard from someone at BMW NA and the port advised that delivery should be next week at some point! I hope that's the case. I'm transitioning to a new company and have the next few weeks off, so wouldn't that be a treat!

Is this occurring to cars built in Munich, and not SA?
